Thanksgiving Dinner, Stella-Style

Hello there, lovely blog folk! I have a humorous card to share with you today, I made it for a loved one who is hosting a big Thanksgiving Day dinner. I am hoping it gives her a good-natured chuckle!

For this card, I cut a 5x7 A7 Kraft card base and then pulled out my Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving papers, making this another scrap/snippets card. Which I guess is good, because what else am I saving the scraps for? Seriously, except for cutting into card stock for bases and mats, how long do you think you could go without cutting into a whole sheet of card or patterned paper and use only scraps? Myself, I'm thinking a full year at least, maybe two. Perhaps I should continue using scraps and see how long I can go? How much you wanna bet some of those scraps will get thrown away? LOL Either way is a win.

SUPPLIES:
Paper: Bazzill Kraft and SU card stocks, Springhill index stock, various paper brands in my Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving papers
Stamps: Bugaboo digis Stella - Calendar Thanksgiving and Stella  -Turkey, Avery Elle, Wordsworth, My Favorite Things, Inkadinkado, Flourishes, EK Success
Inks: ProMarkers, Memento, VersaFine Clair
Dies/Punches: Avery Elle and Spellbinders dies, Marvy maple leaf punch
Stash/Other: Sakura metallic glitter gel pen, Viva Decor Pearl Pens, Nuvo Drops, Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pens and Crafters Companion Sparkle Pens, sheer retro circle patterned ribbon, embossing powder

I chose a Split Coast Stampers sketch from September that I have used once before. I resized it to 5x7 A7 in PSE, and then I opened my digi of Stella and sized it by layering it onto the sketch and then hiding the sketch layer. That might not be the official way to do it, but that's the way I size my images to print out. I like having a life size ( true to scale) paper copy of my sketch on my table while I create the card, too. So I print the sketch as well, unless I am not following the measurements, then displaying the sketch on my screen is fine.

The Bugaboo digi shows Stella cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I colored Stella with my ProMarkers and added some dimensional dots with my Viva Decor Pearl Pens and Nuvo Drops. I die cut the printed digi with the largest Spellbinders Art Deco Astoria Labels Nestie. I also cut another out of grey green card stock and stacked them. I stamped "let us give" at the bottom of the digi and fussy cut the bottom. I die cut the THANKS twice, one in the grey green and one in white index stock and inlaid the white letters in the grey green die cut. After adding my paper layers, image and sentiment, I added my sheer ribbon which was adhered to coordinated paper adhered to index stock (this allowed me to wrap the ribbon around to the back of the strip and then tape the strip down). I added a glitter gold enamel dot and a punched maple leaf that was in my papers, adding dimensional dots to it as well.

Here's the inside of the card. I colored my other Bugaboo Stella digi with sentiment and then added my own stamping to the bottom. The sentiment is pretty snarky and I played it up with some hand-stamped and colored cocktail-loving turkeys to illustrate the snark. I brushed some yellow Wink of Stella around the free form cut edge and some clear Wink of Stella at random.  On the right hand side, sincere and serious sentiments of thanks for all her efforts and generosity. I began with a received card front from years ago that said Happy Thanksgiving in a gold embossed font. Above that I stamped more sentiments with VersaMark and heat embossed them with detail gold powder.  I brushed a border of glittery purple with a Sparkle Pen.

For the back of my card, I took another punched maple leaf and stamped my siggie on the backside of it. There was a snippet of gold mirror card on my desk so I combined it with a few snippets leftover from the front on top of more patterned paper. I really dig the background paper I used, I have several sheets of it, but I'm not sure what it is illustrating. At first I thought it reminded me of a windy day. I think it would look good with die cut / punched leaves arranged on it, but what are the circles? I finally decided it was an abstract rendering of pumpkins on the vine. Leaves go with that, too. Works for me!

Here's a close-up of the shine coming off the card. I heat-embossed the stamped part, the retro-mod circles are painted on and the ribbon sheer has some glitter in it, plus I also put some dimensional dots down in the circle centers.

And a final look. Gosh I love the way the "let us give THANKS" looks. This Avery Elle stamp and dies set called Fill In The Blanks was retired awhile ago. I've had it a long time and have only used the same Thanks die once. The set can be used with a number of occasions/holidays so I hope I will use it more.

You've done a wonderful job putting this card together Aimeslee... there's so much work in each section of the card. The front, inside and back all look fabulous. I love all the shine from the embossing, the glitter, the Nuvo drops and pearl pens. I'm sure you friend is going to love this! I was interested to read about the way you size your images, I think that's a great idea and would be helpful for many people, thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Beccy
