Happy Monday!
Are we YETI to start the last week of January?
😁
I made this birthday card for one of my brothers-in-law.
SUPPLIES USED:
White card stock
Farmhouse Market Square designer collection papers
Leigh SB Designs Winter Yeti and Sign digital stamps
Avery Elle Balloons stamps and dies
Lawn Fawn Hats Off stamp and die
MFT Grounding Elementss dies
Nuvo Watercolor markers
Promarkers
Colored pencil
I used this Splitcoaststampers sketch as my layout inspiration, but stretched it to a 6x6 square.
Now, here's a cool thing I did with stamping the balloons. They are basically silhouette (solid) with the words sunk in, so that when you stamp on white card the words are white. I did not have ink pad colors that matched the paper well enough, so I remembered a very old technique I'd learned somewhere. Instead of stamping ink, I used markers to color the stamps. I still did not have a perfectly matching blue-green so I had to use the navy on that balloon, but I did have a good deep red marker. For the yellow balloon, I wanted a yellow dark enough for you to make out the word, so on that one I combined yellow and orange. I didn't want to risk marker ink getting into the words, so I didn't apply the marker directly. For each balloon, I scribbled marker generously on my plastic pallette, then I stamped into that real good to pick up the color, then stamped my card stock and left it for several minutes to sink into the paper. For the yellow balloon, I stamped the orange marker ink after the yellow and twisted the stamp slightly when picking up the color. I like how that one looks the best, even though it is still not dark enough for my liking. Anyway, it's a good technique to try if you only have the color you want in a marker and don't want to scribble onto the stamp directly.
Inside the card, I let my inner punster loose. I created and framed the sentiment in PSE and printed out on white card.
On back, I used more of the dotted paper from the front along with a foot print from the collection.
Since my inside sentiment had referenced Bigfoot, I had to use it!
😂
Last look. Thanks so much for the visit today and have a great week!

That's such a fun card, Aimeslee! I really like the method you used for getting color onto the balloons. I do something similar with acrylic paint and a gel plate, and I love that the paint is applied pretty evenly and in a thin layer because of the gel plate. Never did try it with markers, though.
