Birthday Sailabration

Happy Thursday, everyone. Hoping all are well.
We had some good news yesterday. Centerpoint, our gas utility, showed up to install the new meter. Then Honey called our contractor and they've moved us up a week to 8/15.
We both had a much better day!
Have to tell this funny story. Last week, Honey hunted around in the garage (he has so much guy junk, tools, etc. in there) and found two thin copper pipe lines. He bent one end of each pipe to make handles and took them out to the back property line to find the underground gas line using the copper like a divining rod. And he thought he'd actually located it. Well, when the utility guys came out yesterday with their $1000 digital locator, they couldn't find it. So Honey brought out his "equipment" and showed them where he thought it was. They finally got their locator to register it, dug and there it was!
How's THAT for Old Skool, heehee.
I told Honey I was calling him The Divine Honey Rod from now on!
😜😜😜
Okay, so to get back on task, I took a lil break from the Christmas cards to share this birthday guy card I made last week, for a friend of ours that Honey used to work with.
The idea for it began with these leftover bits and bobs. The sailboats are Impression Obsession die cuts I had previously cut more than I needed, and the blue-green wavy strip was leftover after cutting some Quickutz Cook Cutter wavy border die cuts. The sentiment was another leftover I created in PSE and ended up not using. I die cut it using a Lawn Fawn banner die.

I found this Splitcoaststampers sketch I thought would be a great layout design.
Then I decided to use my WRMK Celebrate Draping Banner embossing folder with some Tumbled Glass DOX ink-swiped inside of the front of it.  I also heat-embossed across the bottom with sand embossing powder. I did the heat embossing first, then masked it and did the inked swiping and dry embossing. I used a piece of white 90# watercolor paper and sprayed a sealer on it afterwards because the DOX is water-reactive and I had swiped the folder several times and a lot of DOX ink ended up on my card, thankfully though, not on the little embossed banners. (I ink-swiped the folder/ran it through my Big Shot 2-3 times to get better coverage, there's always "bald spots" whenever I do this technique!)
I used a white Posca paint pen along the top edge of the wavy water scrap before adhering it to the card front to define the water from the sky.
I accented the embossed banner flags with a clear glitter Sakura gel pen. Here's a close-up showing the shine on the banners. I colored in the small ones and just outlined the big ones.
Here's a close-up to show the shine off the sand embossing powder
I LOVE that stuff!
The inside with some very old sentiments stamped with Majestic Blue Versafine ink.
And final view.
👀
Thanks for the visit and stay well!

Hi Aimeslee, so glad to hear things are moving more quickly now and hope you will soon have more wonderful cool in your house. I had to laugh at the story about Honey divining, well done. Yes, sometimes old methods are good! I must confess, I have never had copper pipes stashed away, that's probably a man thing. Your card is fabulous, you make such wonderful ones! I'm having a restful day again. Have a great day and take care ❤ of yourself! Hugs, Valerie 🤗

Yay!! Centerpoint finally came out and got you hooked up! About time they showed up. I think it's totally funny how your husband found the gas line over their fancy schmancy "tool". LOL Your card is so cool! I think we both could use some cool ocean breezes right now, or a good cold rainstorm. I cannot wait until the heat goes bye bye. Hang in there my friend.
