Paradise Art Journal Page

Hello there, hope we're all having a good weekend!
This was a little experiment for me, to take an out of control watercolored background and create a scene from it.
The idea began when I saw this photo on Facebook that was attached to some meme.
It caught my eye because the colors seemed similar to a background I'd watercolored earlier this year using. Dylusions inks as paint. I was practicing fluidity with water. So, this background...
...became this summer water scene at sunset. It was a little scary for me to attempt, but I just kept telling myself I could tear it out and rip it up if it did not meet my expectations. And I on purpose left most of the pink formations alone to give it some abstraction. This could be the view from an ocean beach or the shoreline of a lake or bay. I was trying to catch the intense colors and shapes of a vivid sunset, so I wasn't worried about making any other shapes literal.
I used these 4 stencils, all made by The Crafters Workshop and all older than dirt. I used them to make the sun and the dragonflies.
Close-up of the sun. After stenciling with Distress Inks, I used a blending brush to brush more yellow over parts of surrounding area. I also used watercolor pencils on the water/shore line and alcohol and distress markers to color in various places as needed.
Close-up of the journaling text, stamped using Versafine Clair ink and Leave Memories stamps. I also used a Sakura gold glitter gel pen for accenting.
And final view.
👀
I am happy I tried this and really like how it came out.
I'm reminded of this excellent advice from Emerson:
Thanks for the visit and have a good day!
