SAFARI TAG

Hey there, hope your week is going well. I've not felt well for the last two days and didn't post a couple of things for challenges, so I've told myself I feel better today and will be posting more than once today.
Honey and I don't travel any more for pleasure, only when we have to, for multiple reasons, one being we don't really want to. So, for Valerie's current challenge at Tag Tuesday I was at a bit of a loss because I make tags for my corner tag tree and they need to mean something personal. I was talking about it with Honey (since they are his decorations too) and was about to just use some of the spots we've been to in our past travels, but then we got to talking about what would be our fantasy travel choices, just off the top of our heads and dependent upon our moods right then. He replied, African or Australian Safari. Not to shoot any game, just to see them. Well, I decided to make a tag for each of our choices. (I will post mine separately to get both in the challenge.) This is the tag I made for him.
After showing him the stamps and stickers I had, he liked the giraffe and the zebra on this really old sticker sheet I had in my stash.
I decided to cut the tag using some nested notched stitched square dies I had bought on Amazon. I think using dies for the tag base is a fun alternative to a shipping tag. So, I cut the green base out of SU card stock and the smaller patterned paper layer from a sheet in the Carta Bella 6x6 Old World Travel paper pad. But before I adhered it, I stamped a Deep Red Stamps rock border with Fallen Leaves Versafine Clair ink. Then I colored the area above and below with a, ochre colored pencil and drew grass with light brown and green pencils. I also ink-distressed the edges with some Pesto Versamagic Chalk ink. Then it was just a matter of adding the 3 stickers and done with the scene. I used an SU tag punch on some of the green card stock and attached it to the back at top so it would look more like a tag.

That's it for this post. Have a great day and thanks for the visit!

I like making both!
But I really enjoy making my husband something he wants or likes and that's usually masculine.

This is a wonderful tag Aimeslee ! The background is really beautiful, and I love the giraffe and the zebra that you added. Since it is a beautiful paper, it does not need much decoration, and it looks great.
I wish you a lovely Friday and weekend
Big hugs, Caty

Oh I can totally relate - I just feel as thought I don't want to travel too far any more. Africa was always a place I wanted to visit but I'm a stay at home girl in Wales now! Love your tags though - just perfect to bring the animals to life. Thanks for playing along with us at The Male Room challenge

I love the inspiration behind your tag, it's not always about boats trains and planes for travel.
The images are just delightful, an amazing Tag.
Thank you for joining us at Tag Tuesday x

I had to come back and check out the hubby's safari tag. i'm with him about that being a dream vacation. Of course I like to go just about any place so my dream vacation list is pretty long-smile. These are fantastic stickers, and they make a super tag. It's too bad Valerie's theme came when it did as I could have made a lot of tags if I'd had more time. I hope you're feeling better and having a nice long weekend. hugs-Erika
