Oceans of Birthday Fun

Happy Thursday, blogging peeps. I have yet another scheduled post of a birthday card and this one has mermaids. Not a very popular theme in the dead of winter, but I do enjoy the change. I'll be resuming the winter themes soon enough.
This card was (almost 100%) made out of all leftovers from either previous projects or ideas I had and abandoned. Their odd and ends have been waiting patiently in a shoebox lid for me to get inspired to use them. The white parts were the only things newly cut. I'm kind of proud I was able to come up with covering 4 surfaces with all those bits and bobs! 😊
SUPPLY LIST:
Front
Reflections Heavy weight white card stock for card blank
Springhill Digital white card stock
KI Memories designer papers
Images: Tiddly Inks Little Valentine Mermaids, colored with Promarkers and watercolor pencils
Dies: Tutti Designs, LDRS and Avery Elle
Inside
Recycled calendar page
Digi Doodle Studios Mermaid Digital Sentiments (no longer available),
printed on pastel blue copy paper
Back
SU navy card stock
Flair and Karen Foster designer papers

I chose this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my layout design. I thought I was using this sketch for the first time, but turns out I used it back in the fall for a Halloween card.
Everything I used on this card front was already cut out from dies, except for the white card base and white mats that I die cut. The sentiment must have been printed on that background but I can't remember what digi paper I used. The little mermaids had already been colored and fussy cut (and I have more to use on a future card).
Inside I used a recycled desk planner illustration and a sentiment sheet that I arranged in PSE and printed out.
Same story on back, with the addition of a colored siggie.
And a final look. Because of the way I create, I accumulate a lot of these snippets and I just cannot seem to throw them out {sigh}. If I was smart, I'd put them all in a big box and put that out of sight...and promptly forget about them! Hmmm, sounds like a good idea!
😎
Thanks for visiting and have a good rest of the week.

Mermaids not popular in winter? I beg to disagree! My next door neighbour's youngest daughter would love this as she likes mermaids. I always make her a mermaid themed card for her birthday at the end of December.

The more I think I am staying on top of visiting blogs, the more I get behind-smile. Sunday mornings are a good time to catch up though. You can't go wrong with mermaids, can you? Even in the dead of winter. This card is just adorable. Hope all is well. hugs-Erika

I think this is a fab way to use all those off-cuts from other cards!! Especially if you end up with quite a lot - you can make new cards with less time :)

Thanks for playing along with our first challenge of 2023 at I Love Promarkers,

Very cute card! So many cards I have commented on today were made out of little pieces of leftovers. Seems to be a trend today!

Always incredible collages! Loving your papers and the ways you have used them, Aimes, but more than that... CUTEST LITTLE MERMAIDS EVER! They must be the two of us, as we shed our human skin and jump into the beauty of water, able to move freely in comparison to the dry soil from whence we came LOL Yes, my imagination gets a bit crazy. Wonderful card!

Aimeslee: I'm enjoying seeing some mermaids linked to TFATU's January competition! It's wonderful that you've been able to reduce your shoebox lid leftovers with so many used for this ocean colored card! The back panel texture is terrific! Hope you come back again to share at TFATU! --Becca/new owner

Another wonderful card Aimeslee. I must admit I wouldn't have thought of mermaids in the winter but yours look good.
