Love Jar of Hearts

 Happy FriYay, everybody! Hope y'all are okay. I might as well tell you, we are a bit nervous here on the upper Texas Gulf Coast, because a blue norther is settling in. We even have snow forecast for Monday with a high of 28F and a low of 12F. Wait, WUT????? Oh mylanta, we may not survive! We don't DO that kind of cold here. There's already been a horrible deadly vehicular pile up in Fort Worth as the system moves south. Dear Children report icicles on their backyard trees and everywhere else in Austin. I am just praying our electricity stays on. Our central heat, water heater and stove are gas but the heat requires electricity to operate. It's times like this I wish I'd put my foot down and demanded a generator. I did insist that Honey go this afternoon to stock up on nonperishable groceries and he said people were like chickens with their heads cut off. We'll survive but it won't be pretty without power. Anyway, it's supposed to be through Tuesday, so if I don't post you will know it's cold and dark over here. The forecast has 5 nights below freezing. {Sigh}

Ok so onto my card. This Valentine is for Honey's mom, who is probably my biggest card fan. I wanted it to be bright and cheery for her, so I used my Promarkers to color the Bugaboo "Valentine Jar" digital image. I followed up by accenting with a white Signo gel pen, highlighting the "Love" and the hearts, and then doodling little circles all around the balloons. I like how that makes the "Love" stands out.

I also used Bugaboo's Stella Says Sketch #903, resizing it in PSE.

I dove into my Valentine paper and pulled out a few very old (circa 2006) Junkitz Teresa Collins Love Line 121x12 collection designer papers that have bright and bold colors to match the colorful focal image, and I wanted the dominant color to be mauve-y pink because that's The Rainbow Card Challenge's color this month and always Creations in Pink's challenge. The 5x7" card base is SU and I used a scrap of black card stock to mat the image. The 2 vertical heart borders were cut with a very old Quickutz 12x12 scrapbooking die out of the SU card stock.

Inside the card is more of the Junkitz. I laid the paper down on the opened card and realized it was a perfect fit if I cut it apart down the middle, so that's what I did! I added a simple MFT hand-stamped sentiment and we signed the card inside the bottom right heart. On the back, I used a piece of Basic Grey Bittersweet paper that was leftover from my Scandi card and hand-stamped a Technique Tuesday siggie, currently my go-to siggie.

And a final view of my bright and happy colored card! Thanks for visiting and have a great day! xox

Oh la, la. Everything about this card is BEAUTIFUL my dear Aimes. All that pink is so pretty. I love the way you added pink around the images. I had to enlarge it to see for myself how you did this so beautifully.

Please--be safe out there. Maybe it is time to think about a generator. We actually have a huge space heater in our storage closet, in our apartment, for when the electricity goes out. In 7 years we have not had to use it--LOL.

Wow - this is absolutely stunning! Such a great image and your colouring is perfect. The black really makes the pink stand out and is very striking and bold - love it! Your papers are such a good match and those pink hearts going down the card are fab. I have to say also that the details you put in your blog is fantastic - must be so much work and you put me to shame!

Aimeslee this is a beautiful card. I was linking one of mine up and saw this looking so bright and cheerful.

We have had about 10 days of snow and really cold temperatures. Today right now at 3pm it is -3C and the wind chill brings it to -10C, that is mega mega cold for us. Supposed to be the last of the snowfall tonight and then start warming up tomorrow and solid rain for about a week!

Hope your power stays on so you at least have heat, being cold is no fun at all :(

Love Mandy xxx

Another bright and wonderful card Aimeslee, love the sketch take and the wonderful hearts and papers, always wonderful inserts and even the back of your cards, Super work it's such a happy card filled with love.
Hope you're OK, beside the cold.

Hi Aimeslee! :) I LOVE your Valentine's card! So pretty! Oh, stay warm...just a few more days for this deep freeze to pass. I dream of a generator too, but at least we have a wood stove here.

What a great Valentine's card. I love the heart balloons. I have such a stash of Valentine's cards. I have been making them for eleven years and never mailed a single one. Anyways, I mailed some to my grandkids this year with money in them. They just love getting money! I just realized I started one for my husband. I need to finish it today. I got me first COVID shot yesterday. I ache all over today, but heard that only lasts a day, thank goodness. On to see what else I missed!

Gorgeous card, love your bright cheerful colours and the fabulous image. Great take on the sketch too.
Just read your post- I hope the weather is kind to you and you don't lose the power supply- that would be too awful in those temperatures- I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Thanks for joining in with our Sketch Challenge at Catch the Bug.

Hope you're managing to stay warm and your weather's not too bad, we've had a very cold snap with lots of snow and minus 10s for over a week now, but are due to warm up next week, but with new Grama duties I've got used to having to drive in the snow, but not nice.
Love your card, so bright and cheerful and full of love, your MIL will love it.
Stay safe, Hugs, Avril xx

That is cold - I hope you don't get the power cut - that would be miserable. It sounds as though you are getting prepared though! We have had very cold weather here in the UK and hubby and I have stayed inside as much as possible...they say it's going to warm up a bit this week!
Take care, Hugs, Chrisx
