What's Buzzin' Cousin?

Today was my third and last challenge design for Bugaboo Stamps as their Surprise Guest Designer this month. I am so happy to have been asked to do this because I love Bugaboo Stamps (and my long-time blog readers know this, lol).  The challenge for this week is a 1-2-3 Recipe: 1 Ribbon, 2 Flowers, 3 Layers.

Here's my card. I printed out, colored it with my ProMarkers and fussy cut this adorable Bugaboo Bee 03 image. I cut a 6x6 DCWV card stock card base in sunny yellow and used papers from Pink Paislee's Queen Bee collection.

I used the current sketch over at Stick It Down, created by the multi-talented Leslie Turner, who is also my awesome Love to Craft Challenge Blog design team boss! Ever since I realized she was creating these sketches, I've been using them and they've helped me make some great cards!

I stretched this one in PSE to 6x6 but I did keep the focal element as a circle.

I edge-distressed the base papers and laid down my brown satin ribbon with edging before adhering to my card base. The flowery paper didn't have any green in it, but I colored some of the leaves green with a ProMarker since my focal image had some green. I used a Spellbinders Scalloped Circle die to cut the focal mat for my image and then added a red Prima mulberry flower and then dotted the flower centers with a Viva Decor Black Pearl Pen. I cut two strips of paper scraps with flag ends for my sentiment laid out with yellow Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type alpha stickers.

Inside of my card, I placed my poem I wrote in PSE to my cousin, die cut with a Quickutz Revolution Hexagon die. This card really is for my cousin...well, my cousin's hubby, so he is my cousin by marriage. And he LOVES getting cards from me.
Here's a close-up in case you want to read my poem. Hahaha, I love doing this, but only for people I know will appreciate it and not make fun of me!

Here's the back where I used more of the Pink Paislee papers and my custom siggie stamp die cut with smaller Hexagon dies.

I offset the sentiment strips a bit to be able to see both and also highlight the sentiment.

I just love this adorable bee and how he is interacting with the lady bug. I do not have any children to make cards for anymore, so I get excited when I can use an image like this for a grown-up.

I brushed his wing and his antenna balls with some yellow Wink of Stella. It's really hard to show it in a photo, but here is one where you can almost make out the shimmer.

So, 1 Ribbon + 2 Flowers + 3 Paper Layers = My Card! You are welcome to play along! Thanks again to Bugaboo and Thank YOU for visiting and stay well and safe!

Your sweet little bee is adorable and I love how you made a co-ordinating honeycomb shaped insert inside too - these little details really make a card. Thanks for playing with us over at TicTacToe this week!
