Happy Birthday Boogers!!! {HeeHeeHee}

Hel-loooooo! How'd the weekend treat everyone? Honey and I spent it getting used to the cold weather as it is getting harder for our old bodies to acclimate. (And we'll be getting some warming for the next 4 days.) Such is Life here on the Texas Gulf Coast. Heat and humidity are the only two reliable aspects of our usual forecast for most of the year and since we don't really have 4 seasons to help acclimate to change, it's intense sometimes. We had a US Steel plant here for awhile and lots of employees from up North transferred here. Soon as one of our Northers hit, they would be shocked just how bone-chilling our cold was. Gotta be the humidity.

Well, onto the card I'm sharing today. Meet Gertrude, y'all! I saw this Bugaboo digi and just had to have it because it's so gross and crass and junior high-ish. Then, I just had to make a card with it. And, even better to use a Bugaboo Stella Says Sketch sketch, right? So that's what I've done!

SUPPLIES:
Papers:  Recollections 110# heavy card stock for base, SU card stock, Neenah index stock, various unknown makers of patterned paper scrap snippets I've used from my stash.
Stamps:   Bugaboo digi Gertrude Birthday Boogers, Sweet Stamp Shop, My Sentiments Exactly
Inks: ProMarkers, Distress inks, VersaFine Clair, Sakura metallic glitter gel pen
Dies: Spellbinders Lacey Squares Nestie and Fair Isle Pendant dies
Other/Stash:  Cuttlebug Happy Birthday A2 embossing folder, enamel dots

I began with the current challenge sketch, resizing to 7x5 A7 before printing out. This is a pretty simple top-fold card design and tolerated my changes well. For example, my sentiment is on the slightly larger center focal image and I didn't need another sentiment in the bottom right corner (which in the sketch helps balance the elements). So I compensated by shifting the focal to the right and adding enamel dots. I also have 5 flags instead of 3 and a vertical solid strip close to the center.

This card is completely and totally made of stash scrap snippets. I pulled out my purple and pink scrap drawers and began looking. And I found some decent card stock and patterned paper large enough to work. The dry-embossed paper under the flags is leftover from my daughter's 2018 birthday card and decided my color combo choice of pink and purple.

I colored Gertrude up with ProMarkers and I added a few glittery accents with my gel pen and a tiny pink heart enamel dot. The focal was cut with the lacey square die and matted with the pendant die for extra interest instead of just a straight edged square mat. I thought the two dies worked well together as both have rounded scalloped edges. I didn't use dies to cut the flags. I cut the fishtails by hand using a ruler on the backside of each one to mark the center a half-inch up. I also added the purple vertical card stock  strip between the patterned papers. I kept seeing it in my head and I think it adds to the design.

The inside is a punny computer-generated sentiment I came up with. Go ahead and groan, it's perfectly appropriate. I find tent or top-fold cards more difficult to decorate inside for some reason so I often leave it there. But for some reason on this one I felt compelled to stamp some balloons and I should do this kind of accessorizing more often, especially since I often go to town inside side-fold cards.

 On the back, I had a bit of a challenge as I was running out of larger snippets so I had to combine scraps. I just used what I had left over from the front, stamping this snarky Sweet Stamp Shop siggie on a strip of Neenah, cutting apart and stacking. Not too much thought beforehand and it shows, lol, oh well....

A final look. This card is for my sweet cousin who loves getting my cards. She'll be appreciative and amused, as will her hubby. They're good people who love to laugh, so I have the perfect captive audience to share my corny juvenile humor with. Life is good!

Oh, my, what a card!! I can't tell if I am a fan of the image/sentiment combo or not. BUT, I am a fan of the card!! It's so pretty with the pinks and purples, and I agree, the vertical purple strip definitely adds to the designs. I have to admit that I got a good snort out of the inside sentiment--maybe that really is the reason for the pickiness. Ha!
Anyway, thanks for playing with LTSCB.

I absolutely LOVE your sweet snippets card. I hope you got a bit of inspiration from my card (the snippets banners and the pressure embossing anyway). What a FAB way to use up snippets. You got so super creative with your card, and I really hope you will continue to play along in the Snippets Playground.

I also run a challenge blog, and I would be THRILLED to have you link up with us there as well. My challenges are always Anything Goes/Family Friendly and we have awesome sponsors, which means awesome prizes. I hope that you will join us here soon:
