As promised, I have an 8x8 home decoration Deco to share. My Honey requested it and wants to display it on our foyer table. The base is heavy chipboard that I covered with 2 coats of Cadmium Red acrylic paint before collaging my paper layers. Actually I decoupaged the navy star base paper with Collage Pauge decoupage medium, distressing the edges first.
I used Outlawz' current Wednesday sketch, resizing it in PSE to 8x8. The ribbons and star paper strips were in my stash. The larger patterned paper pieces were in my Patriotic paper stash, I think by Scrapworks and DCWV. The white stars are cut from my Verve Visuals Starry die that I use all the time, with some red glass stars popped on top. The Crafters Companion "USA" was stamped with Palette Hybrid Starry Night ink on white Office Depot index card stock and fussy cut.
A close-up:
The wonderful image is by Leigh S-B Designs and is colored with wax colored pencils and ProMarkers. I then blended the Palette Hybrid Starry Night ink into the outer parts of the image with a makeup blending brush (one of those Amazon knock-offs of the so-called Life Changing Pickett Fence blender brushes, have had mine for months and just now nerved up to use them and it was fun!). I generously coated the Twin Towers with my Sakura glitter metallic gel pen. The light has to hit it just right. And then. WOW! Shimmer and shine! I'm very happy with the way it turned out and so is Honey!

Absolutely stunning! It's no wonder your sweetie wants to display it. Very eye catching. So glad you're out of harms way. My sister lives in Gulport, where Katrina hit.
Very poignant piece of art of work. And so sympathetically designed and made as well.I remember that day so vividly and you summed it up so well.

Aimeslee, this is such a beautiful piece! I love how you combined the papers to provide a wonderful background for the very beautiful image of the NYC skyline with the Twin Towers. I love that you used the Outlawz Wednesday Sketch to be your inspiration for your layout! I really think it turned out perfectly.
I had to wipe a tear from my eye though. The loss of the Twin Towers and so many lives still hurts. I was lucky to go and see the One World Trade Center last July and it made such an impression on me about how valuable our freedom is. And the countless hours of search and recovery for both the workers and the dogs. Our lives forever are changed.
A wonderful tribute!
Hugs!

Aimeslee, this is amazing! I created an entire album with a bunch of friends when the event happened and it is still today one of my most treasured memories.
