The Polar Xpress is Here

Greetings on this Tuesday evening! Hope you are having a good week. I am popping in to share another Christmas card tonite:

I've used Pink & Main's Frosty patterned papers on a 6x6 card base cut from 12x12 Chatterbox textured card stock.

I have used Outlawz Wednesday Sketch, just getting it in under the wire as a new sketch challenge starts tomorrow. In PSE, I turned it on its side, sized it to 6x6 and then employed the View Grid function to get my paper layer measurements.

I distressed all of the patterned paper edges and inked them with VersaMagic Chalk ink. I stamped the sentiment Polar Xpress using Clear Dollar Bobble Alphas stamps with Delicata Silver pigment ink and heat-embossing in Ranger Fine Silver EP. I used a strip of felt bear lace by Queen & Co.

I had been admiring this Tiddly Inks digital image stamp, Winterlights - Ricky, for a while on other people's projects. Finally went there and bought it and Winterlights - Wryn, which I will use on a future project. I printed Ricky out on Office Depot index stock after sizing the image in PSE. The first thing I did was stamp the North Star (don't know who made) with the silver Delicata ink and heat-embossed with the Ranger Silver EP. Next, I took my Sakura clear gel pen, coated Ricky's helmet hat fur and collar fur, and then I hand-drew snowflakes in the sky and let that dry. Then I colored the image with my ProMarkers and lastly I drew some smaller stars with a Sakura Silver Shadow gel pen. (I made a boo boo and smeared a couple -- oh well, shooting stars! haha)

I was going to leave the bear white but he really looks better in the light gray and the snow looks whiter in contrast. I chose to use muted colors (browns, grays) for Ricky and the fox. I wanted the sky and the bear to be dominant. I used 4 shades of ProMarker blues on the aqua spectrum, Midnight Blue, Arctic Blue, Duck Egg and Cool Aqua. And to make sure the ground snow was white as can be, I colored it with a Polychronos White wax pencil.

Inside of my Card. The sentiments are stamped with Memento Black Tuxedo ink and are by Technique Junkies and Stamp Magick.

Here's the back of my card. The siggie stamp is Impression Obsession. A sheet of Pink & Main and a snippet from the card front's papers.

Very difficult to photograph this card and have the silver sentiment show clearly. And yet, no problem with the silver stars!

Before listing the Challenges I am playing, I will leave you with a few close-ups and a final view:

CHALLENGES:

1.  Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenges May 15-28 - Sketch is shown above.
2.  Tiddly Inks Challenge #225: Let's Get Dotty - Must use a TI image and I have used Winterlights-Ricky (flipped horizontally in PSE before printing out). I've used papers with dots and I dotted snowflakes in the sky of the image.
3.  Split Coast Stampers 2019 Christmas Challenges: June Blue & Silver or Red & Gold - I've made a Blue & Silver card.
4.  12 Months of Christmas Link Up Challenge #53: Anything Christmas Goes + Opt. Feature a Creature - I have played the option and have featured a polar bear and also have them as a felt trim at bottom of card.
5.  Sweet Stampin' Christmas May Challenge: Anything Christmas Goes + Opt. Twist Snowflakes - I have played the optional twist. I have hand-drawn snowflakes on my image and snowflakes on my paper.
6.  ABC Christmas May Challenge: J is for Jingle K is for Kids - I have played K is for Kids. Ricky is a little boy riding a polar bear with his pet fox. I called it Polar Xpress alluding to the children's movie.
7.  Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge #439: Anything Christmas Goes + Opt. Use Some Silver - I have made a blue & silver card. The stars in my image sky and the sentiment Polar Xpress are both silver.
8.  Merry Little Christmas Challenge #10: Anything Christmas Goes
9.  Outlawz Saturday Paper A La Mode May 25-June 7: Around the World - My card is at the North Pole.
10.  The Three Muses Challenge: Interesting or Amazing Hats - my bear rider Ricky is wearing a huge winter hat.
11.  Love To Scrap Challenge #121: Anything Goes + Masculine Challenge - I played the masculine challenge.
12.  Try It On Tuesday: Make A Mark - I hand drew the snowflakes and some of the stars on my image's sky.
13.  A Bit More Time To Craft Challenge #92: Always Anything Goes
14.  Crafty Hazelnuts Patterned Paper Challenge May: Anything Goes with Patterned Paper - I used patterned papers from Pink & Main.
15.  Colour Crazy Week 20: Anything Goes with Colouring - I have colored my focal image with ProMarkers.
16.  Your Scrapbook Place May Challenge: Anything Goes
17.  SAS4KIDS May Challenge: To Dad from Kids/Anything Goes 4 Kids
18.  Scrapping4Fun Challenge #141: Masculine
19. Mix It Up Challenge #25: Anything Goes + Opt. Mixed Media - I've played the option. I have stamping, ink & tool edge distressing, gel pen ink resist on snowflakes, heat-embossing of star and sentiment, paper layer collage, alcohol ink marker coloring and Polychronos white wax pencil on the snowy ground.

Well, that does it for me. I hope you liked my card. I have a hair appointment tomorrow and then anniversary dinner at Salt Grass tomorrow evening. Thursday I have physical therapy and Friday is my ladies lunch group. I may not be back for a few days! So, I want to thank you for visiting me and hope you have a great rest of the week and weekend! And what a difference the addition of a hand drawn doodle makes, by making your card absolutely unique! No one else will draw snowflakes or stars like yours, lol. I often write on my cards in tiny writing - along the side of an image or between petals - a bit like journaling. It may not be noticeable, but it makes it far more personal. Love your dotty paper and you're very good at mixing and matching. I like your signature stamp, too - I'm just waiting for a couple of new ones from Paper Angel...I love a good signature stamp :-)
Must admit I can't cope with the idea of snow and Christmas yet, though, lol. We're having a second autumn here and I'm not very warm at all. Hope you're getting lovely, bright sunshine! Thank you so much for sharing with us at Try it on Tuesday :-)
