Mermaids for Mother's Day

Happy Monday, Everyone! A brand new week to play and have fun! I'm sharing a fun and playful 5x7 card today that I made for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. Don't you love the cute mermaid pair playing with their octopus friend? The fishie trio below them want to play too!

SUPPLIES:
*140# Watercolor paper
*Card Stock: Neenah Solar, SU and Recollections
*Patterned Papers: DCWV, Doodlebug
*Dies: Spellbinders 5x7 Matting Basics B; Avery Elle Wonky Scalloped Frames; MFT A2 Pierced Rectangle Stax #1
*Crafters Companion 5x7 Bubbles Embossing Folder
*Stamps: Tiddly Inks Digital, Avery Elle, KI Memories, Impression Obsession, My Favorite Things, Papertrey Ink, Neat & Tangled
*Inks: Tsukineko Memento, Ranger Distress (and markers), Ranger Dylusions, Wink of Stella clear glitter ink
*Stash items: Sequins, circle punches
I used the current Fusion sketch and their photo inspiration (see graphic below under Challenges). The sketch makes a great CAS card, too.

I used this Tiddly Inks mermaids digital stamp to play in their Showcase challenge. And I used watercoloring of the background, the mermaids, and the circle behind my sentiment for Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge option. I also used up a bit of my leftover papers ("snippets") to make my circles and the patterned papers inside and on the back.

I stamped and heat-embossed the little fishies in white on navy card stock and punched them out. Then, I made a Distress ink watercolor background on 140# wc paper using blues and yellows, stamped some waves and heat-embossed in gold, and punched out 3 circles from that.

Next I took some more wc paper and painted it using Dylusions London Blue and After Midnight, trying as hard as I could to get a navy color. I splat water droplets on it to try to get a bubbles look. After it dried, I die cut a rectangle. I printed out my mermaid duo, colored it with Distress inks and markers, brushed on some clear Wink of Stella and fussy cut it, stamped my sentiment and fussy cut it, then assembled my card, adding my sequins as a final touch.

Here are my inside and back of my card. I used some patterned paper scraps or snippets from my stash. I distress-inked the edges and added some inky circles to the pool tiles pattern using a sponge finger dauber in Blueprint Sketch (as it most closely matched my Dylusions color on front). I also die cut the wonky frames in a solid blue that matched. As my inside sentiments would not fit horizontally in the frame, I stamped them on the diagonal for a playful twist.

Here are some more views with details of the glittery shimmer on the mermaids:

Welcome to the Playground Aimeslee - and what a fabulous card as well. Such fun. You can only enter the Snippets Challenge once per fortnight but I don't have a limit on how many other challenges you play along with. Do come back and play again in future - and also do say if you would like to be in the prize draw (purely as a couple of times previously folk were picked and then said they'd been playing for fun which meant I had more work to do the draw again etc.).

Hugs
