Challenge cards

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Just popping in to share a few things I made for challenges.

First up is my ATC for Think Monday, Think ATC where the theme this week was Herringbone / Chevron. This paper technique is one of my favorites to do. There red scraps were laying around saying Use Me, so I did. Don't really know what exactly I will do with it, but since it's red it can go on a Valentine card...

Next up, I am now late for the Sunday Post Card Art Travel theme (a new theme began today), but they do not have a Linky thing that closes so I'm still going to add mine. I traveled back in time and made 2 post cards and then put them on Valentine cards. I have this new love affair with the illustration artist JC Leyendecker and when I saw this image of his illustration The Kiss of Glory (1902) on a Gecko Galz collage sheet, I had to use it. This illustration is HAWT!!!! Borderline graphic porn in 1902? WUT?????

Check it out for yourselves! Oh my! Is it hot in here? Wow! Anyway, I have some EKSuccess Egyptian-themed stamps and The Kiss of Glory was a cover illustration for a book by the same name, which told a secular story based on the biblical characters Joseph and Asaneth. It takes place mostly in ancient Egypt. So, I found two similar maps online and used the image and my stamps a little differently on each map. I also bordered one in red glitter and the other in red russet Pearl-Ex.

Here are the card fronts. The first one has a coat of Glossy Accents over the letters. The second one has Perfect Pearls Interference Red dusted over the letters.

Both cards have the same insides. I included the caption from the book that is under this illustration, along with a little info. I created these in PSE and printed out on my inkjet printer, and as I used 45# matte photo paper, it doesn't let me blend dye inks too well when I went to distress the bright white paper. You can tell I used the rectangle Tim tool, but you know what? I don't blend well anyway, so I kind of like this look. Like always, I used old inkpads in my Use It Up box and how ironic - it was Ancient Page Sienna ink. Heehee Ancient Page ink for Ancient Epic Love! Gotta love it.

And here are the backs of both cards. Using up ancient bits and bobs...

I'm going to link up both of these Valentine cards to Gecko Galz Facebook February Make a Valentine Challenge, since I used this HAWT image from their Love Me Do collage sheet.

Well, that is it for now. Hope your team wins tonite and your tail-gatin' grub is delish!!!
