Weekly 4x6 Art

Hey there, hope everyone is having fun.
The weather has been so nice the last few days.
Faux Spring and Sunshine!
Even limping with ankle pain, I've felt light and airy.

I've also been a bit air-headed.
The themes I needed to follow involved Marie Antoinette and an interpretation of Light.
I decided I wanted to go with pastels/light colors.
But I forgot to print out the image I'd wanted to use and had this very old Collage Visions collage sheet image already printed out.
But it had a black background, so I decided to embrace that and contrast light and darkness.
Which actually describes Marie's life, light to darkness, a very real contrast given how she ended up.

I painted my 4X6 base with black acrylic paint to complement the image and the polkadots in the Melissa Frances 5th Avenue designer paper.

Then I diluted a little white acrylic with water and made splatters all over the paper.

After all that dried, I adhered the paper to the base and used Warm Breeze Versafine Clair ink to stamp the Maya Road and Sweet Stamp Shop sentiment mash-up. I had to use the flippant phrase that is always associated with her, but mine is a slight variation.

I also added some MAMBI stickers as a frame to the image, in the top corner and along the righthand edge. I made accents wherever I could with my Sakura Stardust Glitter gel pen. And I added a couple of polkadot strips of the paper and sequins to finish.

And this is what I ended up with.
I like it and am glad I went with the black complements.
Thanks for the visit.
Hope your weekend is nice.

Sorry your ankle is painful! Your new piece is gorgeous, and M.A. dxefinitely went from light to dark, so it's very symbolic. Thanks so much for linking to Vicki's challenge at AJJ, much appreciated. Happy Friday, hugs, Valerie

A beautiful card Aimeslee! Such pretty papers, and a great saying.
I hope your ankle is better soon. My friend's hubby sprained his on an uneven pavement, and she's having to do all the dog walks amongst other things. Rest is the only way.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Hugs,
Alison xx

It's fun to see Marie A. on your art page Aimeslee. I'm still inspired since the Tag Tuesday challenge to use some images of this former queen. First I just need to catch up on everything else though-which is good and bad too. Nice light background, and nice art piece too. Thanks for linking up to AJJ. hugs-Erika

i have to say that I also really like the light pastel colors with the black accents. It really contrasts well and it also goes with the theme of her life. Thanks for your comment on my blog! I’m glad to be back and I hope to keep up with other blogs now too.

How very clever of you Aimes. I love the quote and the photo of Marie Antoinette. Adding the touch of black is inspired and love it with the lighter, beautiful background. Hope your ankle is OK today?

This turned out fantastic! I love the colors and your splattering over the paper is so nice! I find myself doing this a lot lately! The photo along with your idea of the light and dark work very well for the theme and those papers are so elegant like your Marie Antionette photo! Very nicely done and I thank you for sharing your wonderful art at AJJ using the LIGHT theme! :)
