Wintry Landscape ATC

Hey there, hope you are enjoying the holiday leftovers, down time, whatever you are up to!
I have never really embraced the winter season, other than the rare occasion of snow.
I've been thinking about trying to embrace it this go-around, even if only slightly.
According to Farmer's Almanac, we are supposed to have a mild, wet winter.
In fact, they're saying this weekend may be the last chance for a few hours of freezing temps.
That's wild to me, because we usually have that happen in January or February.
So, we shall see!

Today I have an ATC I made to honor the Winter Solstice and in the Northern Hemisphere, it marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. We popularly know it as the beginning of the winter season.

I found an old envelope filled with cut up masterboards, partially painted, collaged, etc. I pulled out a few cut up pieces of packaging that had been gesso'd and I've used one of them for my make. Here's a photo of the ATC after stamping the Artistic Outpost winter scene in Nocturne VF Clair and heat-embossing it, but before trimming it down and coloring it.

I pulled out my new Artecho metallic watercolors and painted the snow, water and sky.
Next, I edged it with a blue acrylic paint.
Attached it to a bit larger and dark blue card stock.
Attached that to a gray-blue card stock base.
Combined two Tim Holtz Seasonal Chit-Chat Stickers and added to the bottom.
Touched up the blue paint edging and dabbed transparent white acrylic all around.
Last step was taking a white Posca paint pen and dotting the image with falling 'snow'.

Last look.
Thanks for the visit and have a great week.

A beautifully cold wintry ATC, Aimeslee! The limited color palette of blues and white/grays make your lovely landscape especially chilly. You must be so happy to have used up some old stuff too!

Hope you enjoy your winter! :-)

What a perfect mid winter scene. I grew up in Indiana and it looks just like the winters from my childhood. You have captured the iciness of the snow and water so well. Thanks for another entry in the Lost Coast Design Challenge!
