I Got Carried Away

Happy December, everyone. Hope all is well.
Well, I got all my cards addressed and mailed, whch took a few days. Changed out my seasonal decorations and paid bills. I think I'm ready for the new month. I have a few more Christmas cards to make and I'm sharing one today at the end of the post, along with 2 4x6 art pieces shown first. Yes, I got a bit carried away.
😊

This is my entry to Art Journal Journey's December challenge Above Us Only Sky, hosted by Wendy. I would also like to enter this to LCD #180: In the Deep Midwinter
and to Passion for Markers Week 718: Baby It's Cold Outside as I've used watercolor brush markers.
I got the itch to watercolor, so I pulled out an old Art Impressions cling rubber set called Christmas Village. (It's actually stamps for making a Tryfold card.) Anyway, I stamped on a 4x6 sheet of Fabriano Hot Press 140# w/c paper with VF Clair ink and clear heat embossed all images. I stamped the bench with the 4 trees behind it stamp first, then stamped that again on masking paper and fussy cut the tree tops. I applied the mask and stamped the houses behind it. Removed the mask and painted the little village scene with my Spectrum Noir Watercolor Brush Markers and a liner brush.

Then I used broad messy diagonal strokes with a few different blues to paint the sky.
When I was done, I fell in love with it!

I did manage to trim it down a bit, add a mat and stamp a Stamplorations sentiment. It will now be archived in my 4x6 album journal, shown above.

The challenge this week at SPA is Window to the World. Because I try to two-fer this challenge with AJJ, my plan was to add card strips to frame the image like a window but I couldn't bare to mess with cropping it.
So, what to do? I made a second 4x6 art piece by scanning my watercolored image into PSE and resizing it to fit the only window die I have (TH Sizzix Window) which has panes but I cut them off because they obstructed my little scene, lol.
I really like my little scene, can you tell?
😁
So when I printed out my scanned and resized images on satin photo card, they came out with a brighter blue sky, which irritated me, but hey, it still looked good so I used it.

So this is the second creation, for Sunday Postcard Art's Window to the World challenge, hosted by Annie. (I would also like to enter it to Cut It Up #292: Use More Than One Die, Happy House Vesela Hiska #49, and Night Owls #31: Gifts with Bows.) I found some old brown striped K&Co scrapbook paper that looked like wallpaper and cut the Sizzix window frame out of Kraft card, highlighting and shading with a brown colored pencil after cutting off the panes. I added the smaller scanned image to the back of the frame and added that to the 4x6 card. Then I die cut some bows (Amazon unbranded) out of glitter paper and used the window pane die cut waste for boxes and added my bows.

Next, I die cut a Sizzix Christmas tree out of white card, colored it green with Promarkers and used a darker green colored pencil to add branch strokes. I outlined the tree with a darker Promarker and added it to the card. I added garland with Christmas Red Stickles and tree ornaments with Stickles, Viva Decor Pearl paint pens and Nuvo Crystal Glaze. Found a leftover yellow punched star for the tree top and done. Ahh, my little scene looks so pretty in the window, doesn't it? This will make a nice decoration for my art corner.

And finally, my 3rd creation of a Christmas card using my scanned image. I simply matted it for the A7 card front and added the Papertrey Ink sentiment with Warm Breeze VF Clair ink. Clean & simple & fast!
Even the lighter version of the sky is cool.

Well, that's it, lol. Thanks for hanging in there, hope it's not too confusing.
The challenge entries for the card are below, but I need to rest some first.
Back later to list challenges.
I had lots of fun making these!
Thanks for visiting and have great day.

That would be my daughter and son-in-love, because they really challenge me generationally and work my brain, which is always good at my age, lol.)

I like the darker sky a bit better too, but like you said, they all look good. I like how you used the image in so many different ways also. I scan items in before I use them, and I scan them in to use something in them afterwards, but I love the idea of scanning in an image to resize and reuse all at about the same time. It is a pretty winter scene, with some Christmas prettiness also. :) Thanks for joining Wendy for her sky challenge this month. This piece is really lovely (for everything you made it for.) And good for you to have so much done too. I'm decorated, half the bills are paid but no cards are written yet. hugs-Erika

Both entries are beautiful. I can see how you got carried away. I love how you highlighted the sky, which is perfect for Wendy's theme at AJJ.

The sky looks beautiful in all of them, Aimeslee! (However, I do understand the irritation of scans not reflecting the true color of the scanned art.) I love the messy strokes and the various blue tones that you've used, and the wintry scene is just gorgeous. I wouldn't want to put window panes on it either. :-)

Hello Aimeslee, I've come over from WOYWW after seeing your comment at SUsan, Calling All Crafters. Isn't it amazing how we all connect one way or another. I love the cards you've made with the little scene...it's a gorgeous scene and totally see why you like it. Amazing how scanning it changed the colours so. I eally like the graphic stroke effect sky, im growing to store that idea in my pea brain and see if I can't copy your lead! Im super impressed by your response to challenges....I don't do them at all, they scare me because of the deadlines...which is funny because WOYWW put you off by being too fast moving....not something I've ever thought about it being!
