Aloha, Birthday Girl

Welcome - hope everyone's okay.
Happy World Card Making Day!
And I have a card to share.
😊
I've got a long-time girlfriend whose favorite place is anywhere she can feel sand in her toes, so for her birthday every year I make her a tropical-themed card. Everything was water colored on this, using Zig and Spectrum Noir watercolor markers and pearlescent and metallic paints.
(I used colored pencils here and there as well.)

Dies and embossing folder used.

Pearlescent and metallic watercolors used.

Painting the embossed background with the metallic paint.

The die cut floral pieces painted with the pearlescent paints, before shading with the markers.

I used this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my layout design but resized is to 6x6.

For my focal image, I used Pattie's Creations digi Coconut Drink With Umbrellas . This is my first time coloring a coconut shell as a focal, so I hope I did okay. I resized the image and framed it in PSE before printing out on watercolor paper. I watercolored the focal background and used my markers on the image. I used colored pencil on the straw and and the coconut "hairs", and a gold metallic gel pen on the drink inside the shell, plus a silver one on the umbrella tops. To make the coconut fruit rim really white I used colored pencil and then a white gel pen. I stamped the Avery Elle and Stamplorations sentiments with Paradise Versafine Clair ink. The background mat was embossed with the Altenew 3D folder and painted. And the layered floral die cuts  I painted were arranged in the bottom left corner.

Inside and back of the card.

Close-up of the florals.

And last look.
I'm really happy with the results and hope my friend will like it.
Hope you are having a great weekend.
Thanks for visiting.

Hi Aimeslee. Your coconut shell is so realistic and all your painting is beautiful. The weather here is getting chillier so it was nice to imagine a tropical beach for a few moments.

Did you emboss the background? It's really lovely. And this is a fun card. I like the coconut drink image and how you added all those pretty tropical flowers. And I am glad there are umbrellas in the drink I wonder who ever thought of that, but boy it has become a classic thing to do, hasn't it? This is a fun card. I hope you've had a nice weekend, or are having one, depending on when you read this. It's gotten chilly here and feels like October. hugs-Erika

To answer your question about Rattlesnakes, yes there are/were rattlesnakes on Rattlesnake Island in the Lake Winnipesaukee. We have a native rattlesnake here called the Timber Rattlesnake. They are rare, and probably endangered, mainly because this area is overall very developed. So we have something in common with Textas, even though you have way more rattlesnakes and different types. Smile. And as for our meal choices, we are called New England, and some roots run deep up here, whether you are English or not. Hope all is well. hugs-Erika
