Hello, hope your Sunday's been sunny!
Yes, it's another art journal page for my Flowers Challenge I'm hosting over at Art Journal Journey. I plan to share 5 more before it's over, too.
😁
My main objectives for this spread (past creating something with flowers) was to use the quotes, card stock flowers and border strip stickers that I found in my collage fodder. I added some brown floral washi, peach mini flower die cuts, a decorated envelope die cut and The Paper Shelter's Go Go Girl pre-colored digi.
I turned to this spread which had previously been painted with acrylics in this stripe pattern and then messily reverse-stenciled a bit while cleaning the stencil off, I think, anyway. I've slept a bunch since then.
😁
The dance quote at top left is a Scenic Route rub-on and it cracked apart a bit but went onto the page. I'm getting more daring with them and directly applying as long as I can put something over it if the rub-on fails. I thought the 3 smiling flowers from an old punch-out calendar looked like they wanted to Macarena, so I lined them up! They are on some border stickers I somehow acquired. The large polka dotted flowers are Urban Lily and were embellishment add-ons in their (appropriately here named) Funky Floral collection. I did die cut the small peach-colored flowers using a Rubbernecker die and dabbed their centers with a blue metallic Posca Paint Pen.
More of the card stock flowers and die cut mini flowers. I used the peach envelope Honey's Mother's Day card was in for the flowers and the base for the Cloud 9 Design quote strip. I fuxxy cut the Go Go Girl and put her on a Spellbinders die cut of an altered decorated envelope I received once. I do think the quote is perfect for her, plus I love that Don Henley song.
And one last look at the spread. While I was making it, it looked like 2 separate pages sharing a common background and theme. But now I'm seeing more connections. Funny how sometimes you create something you don't even realize you are creating until you finish, lol.
By the way, this is the journal this spread is in. Yes, one more journal, heehee. (I have several!) I began it in 2012 for flat eclectic mixed media pages. It's a repurposed American Express desk planner from back when I was still working. I have 6 of them and kept them because the binding is handsewn and the papers take paint really well. And I love the 8x8-inch format. Plus I paid about $20USD for each year's planner, so I am not throwing them away! I just have to be sure to thin the pages out enough for the eventual filling up. I decorated the cover of this one with alcohol inks and a round canvas piece that I'd inked.
That's it for me. Thanks for dropping by and have a great week!

Such fun pages in your repurposed calendar/journal! I've kept all of mine over the years...hmmm... Great colors, patterns and those flowers are perfect for your dancer! So happy you shared your 60's/70's fun with us at Path of Positivity! ~Katrina
These are fun and colorful journal pages. What a great idea to use a no longer needed planner. Thanks for sharing at Colorful Options May Challenge.
What a colourful and delightful set of pages, from a few painted "lines". Love the layout, it's another fun and wonderful project.

I love all the colorful flowers...so pretty!
That old American Express desk planner sounds like it makes a great journal. The paper must be decent to take paint-so many of them are pretty thin. I love these playful colors; they are just right for flowers and dancing. Or dancing in the garden. That sounds like fun to me. Smile. Happy Monday. hugs-Erika

Your pages are fabulous! I just may need to start my own art journal sometime. Goodness I've a bunch of stuff to stick in one.
This was a fun spread. I thought the go go dancer was quite appropriate for the sentiment. I like how you used the washi tape and how you positioned the flowers. You are a master with that Posca pen. Thanks ever so much for sharing this with us at AJJ using your theme.
This is a great project!
We always love to see all the entries at Classic.
