Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Hi there, hope all is well with you. I'm here once again with one last Christmas card before I switch gears for some art journal play time.
This is my last German scrap Santa from the set I bought many years ago. All the patterned paper I put with him seemed to detract from him, so I ended up going with this monochrome green color palette (plus a lot of black and white).

I chose this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my layout design and with my card to show how I followed it.
Ok, on an A7 winter white card base, the black bottom layer is heavy construction paper cut with a Sizzix Thinlits Falling Stars die. Next layer is the green SU card on which I adhered some handmade pulp paper I've used before for a snowy ground. But before adhering I cut it with 3 different Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Dies aall at once, then lined back up on the green card. Top focal layer has a bit of leftover snow paper from cutting the top hill and gives the german scrap Santa something to stand on. He's on more black paper with a few of the stars that were cut out of the Sizzix die. The SeeD's sentiment and Lawn Fawn banner were stamped with Versamark and heat-embossed with white powder, then cut with the matching die (LF Bannerific Stamps/Dies). I added 2 little stars and popped up on dimensionals.
A close-up of the handmade pulp paper snow. Love this stuff.
I matted the inside of the card with some of Tim Holtz's Seasonal Collage Paper Stash. I haven't quite decided on which sentiment stamps to use, so I'll wait until I know who is receiving it and then stamp on a die cut shape and add.
I cut into a very old sheet of Rusty Pickle to layer on the green Bazzill adding a scrap of the backside of Tim's paper from the inside and a stamped and punched siggie.
And final view. Thanks for visiting me today and enjoy your weekend! XOX

Aimeslee: This is a fabulous Christmas card!!! The black and white stars behind the Santa banner focal add so much drama when the bottom portion is kept white and snowy!! The perfect song title gets your attention at the bottom center! Excellent! Thanks for including MTTCC in your links! --Becca/DT

Hello Aimeslee, just wanted to pop by and say, a very belated!, thank you for the kind comment you left on my blog. I'm very behind with my commenting as real life is rather busy at the moment and blogland is having to wait a bit!

Lovely Christmas card you've made there - wonderful traditional style and I love the green / black combo! I'm terrible with Christmas cards, leave it to the last minute, every year!

You said about your ancestors coming from Lincolnshire - we actually live about 45 mins from the original Boston where some of the Pilgrims emigrated to America from. I'm originally from the edges of London myself (both my parents were born and bred Londoners - I'm the odd one for moving into the countryside!) and where I live now there aren't many original Lincolnshire Yellow Bellies left - lots of people moved in from other Counties in recent years (just like me and hubby) and I don't know any Hatchers. Very interesting researching family history though, isn't it? My family on one side comes from Germany and on the other Ireland. Whereas hubby's family came over from France in the Norman Conquest (around 1066)! His family can be traced right back to the Royal retinue - he's very smug about his family coming over with the invaders!!

Hope you are having a good weekend and I hope I haven't waffled on for too long!

Best wishes, Sarah

We're into the heat right now and that snowy cold night background sure looks appealing. I like the snow and all those stars. It's a great quote, and a great Victorian image too. I hope your day goes really well and your house is cool soon. Hugs-Erika

Now this is a very classy and classic look. You did well with picking the right paper. I agree that this colour combination works for your card. Ones eyes are drawn right into the white stars and santa.
