Inspired By Zentangle Art

Happy October! I hope you all are okay! I have 2 posts for today.

This first post is for sharing my make as a Guest Designer over at Scrapping4Fun, where their new challenge #202 begins today through October 14th and is sponsored by LoveFromLizi.

I made this pic collage to show the front, back and inside of the gatefold card I made. I chose to be inspired by all of the people everywhere who doodle and zentangle. I'm a doodler from way back and would love to be able to 'tangle', but my fingers cramp up too quickly and my hand is not quite so steady anymore. Alas, the art form came too late for me, but I've used the next best thing here: other people's tangles! 😉

I chose this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my design because it's specifically for a Bridgefold card and as that's out of my league (or more like it, desire) it does translate well to a plain old gatefold, which was my original aim. I resized it to 6x6" square in PSE. And while I decorated the top I did not give it an architectural decoration as the sketch suggests.
My card base was cut from a sheet of legal size white card stock and I rounded the outside top corners with a punch. All surfaces are matted with papers from Basic Grey's 6x6 Indian Summer collection. The images you see throughout the card are from Gecko Galz's Zen Tangles Digital Stamps Set and Looking Glass ATC Set. The border images printed in color, but the front and back flowers and pumpkin were all hand-colored by me with Promarkers. The middle element is a Spellbinders label die cut with stiff white card, another smaller cut from yellow ink blended card on which I've stamped the N&T sentiment and then stamped a sun over it.
The flower blossoms on the back of the card are Inkadinkado stamps I fussy-cut and colored because I preferred them to the printed flower blossoms. (I really like the printed leaves though).
The inside features the zentangle pumpkin I colored, Quickutz font white die-cut sentiment above it, Neat&Tangled's stamped sentiment on the left and my computer-generated sentiment on the right. I've ink-blended the card a pretty yellow to match the gorgeous BG paper.
Here's a shot of the card standing...
And another showing the slight dimension created by adding the blossoms to the card back.

I hope you have enjoyed my card and will check out the challenge at Scrapping4Fun and consider joining in. The topic is broad and as long as you explain what and who inspired you, there are many ways to meet the challenge so go check it out! Thanks for visiting and see you in a few hours for my second post. xoxo

Hi, again Aimeslee,
Thank you for your visit to my blog and for your lovely comments and for answering my query. I did know about the letter size but didn't think that you also used it for cards.
I love Zentangles too and like you just colour somebody else's.

This is a lovely card, Aimeslee! I am usually not very much of a Zentangle fan, but I do love what you did here with the flowers on the outside and the pumpkin in the inside.
Sorry that I have been AWOL for a while. I am not sure what are happening to the day right now, they seem to only be half as long as they used to be!!
Hugs Monica
