Rainbows, Unicorns, Fairies and Ewe

Hey y'all, hope everyone had a good week with plans for a lovely weekend. Honey and I are planning to tackle an insurance form and our tax return on Sunday and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm wanting to escape reality right about now, lol. So I made a magical fantasy birthday card using an alcohol ink background technique and a focal scene of various Bugaboo stamps.

Since I was using Bugaboo digi's, I went with the current Bugaboo sketch, resizing it to 5x7" and turning it sideways in PSE. I extended the triple dots to the edges of the card, using pairs of gold photo corners, flower rhinestones and shaped purple and blue brads mushroom and bird). Otherwise, I followed the sketch, it's a great one for a scene card.

Here's the base mat background on the card front. It's a dragging technique using Tim's rectangular ink applicator with some felt. I used Ranger Glossy Card and applied diagonal lines of alcohol inks in ROY G BIV rainbow color order. I blew the colors around just a bit with a travel hair dryer. Then I squirted some alcohol blending solution onto my felt and some on the card (next time I am spraying the card with the solution). I then dragged the felt across diagonally same direction as the applied ink colors. I  realized I used too much blue and indigo inks, so applying fresh felt with solution and continuing to drag it revealed some of the color underneath. I could have kept going but decided to stop as I liked the parts that were going to show.

The back of the background somewhat reveals my inking pattern...before indigo got involved, lol. At any rate, I'd done all this for an Outlaws challenge using glossy card stock and it was messy fun. I also learned that a combination of hand sanitizer, then Lava Soap, then Speedball Mona Lisa Pink Soap gets most of the alcohol ink off your hands and under fingernails with a stiff nail brush. I tried finger cots on only a few fingers this time -- fail! Now I know to just put on the latex gloves, as I am THAT messy!

Okidoke, so after creating my background, I set to designing my focal in PSE. I arranged the clouds, rainbow, unicorn, sheep and fairy on a 6.75x3" blank file. I added the 'Wishing Ewe' that comes with the sheep. I created the rest of the sentiment using the Text tool. I printed it, cut it out and then used my Carbon Desk Pen to draw the slightly hilly ground. Then I colored everything using my Promarkers. I used a Sakura Clear Star gelpen on the flower centers, wings, horn, antenna buds and stars, and Clear and Yellow Wink of Stella glitter brush pens on the rainbow and stars.

I added the gold photo corners to the upper right and lower left of the focal image layer and adhered it to the background. Next, I added the rainbow ribbon to the background above and below the focal image layer. I added the mushroom and bird brads and I then adhered the background to my white A7 card base. The final touch was gluing the yellow flower rhinestones on.

For the inside of the card, I cut a mat from Colorbok's Spray Paint 12x12 Card Stock pad. In PSE, I created the sentiment and added Bugaboo balloon digi images that I colored with Promarkers.

The back of the card was very simple: another piece of the Colorbok card on which I'd stamped the Lawn Fawn siggie and heat-embossed it with Ranger Magenta powder.

Close-Ups of the scene:
My cloud coloring involved "in"-lining with a grey-blue color and outlining with a brighter blue. Otherwise, I let it be. I love how they are drawn.

The unicorn, so strong and confident with a glittery horn and pink mane.

I love these little characters so I included them in the scene as they both have wings and are pretty whimsical. This is the only Bugaboo fairy I have but she's plenty cute. And I love the expression on the sheep's face. Not quite sure if she's also a fairy but she has the costume down!

And just to enjoy the colors of the rainbow again....

And a final view. This is for a girlfriend who likes fairies and unicorns, so I'm hoping she'll be pleased. Thanks so much for the visit and I hope you are staying well, safe and crafty! XOX
