Wednesday Greetings, everyone. Hope you have good weather wherever you are. Ours was sunny last week, but now we are in a pattern of one day sunny, one cloudy, one rainy, one cloudy, and repeat. I guess it's April showers bringing May flowers, but I would love more sunshine.
So, I did the next best thing and made a birthday card using lots of sunny yellow (with green and dark berry pink) from Basic Grey Hello Luscious designer papers. I also used precolored digis from Beccy's Place: Arthur (one of the birds from Wilson-Birds set), and Birdhouse with Vines (March's freebie image). I was a bit afraid the red berries would clash against the dark berry pink, but if it does I like it, lol. The sentiments were stamped using Sweet Stamp Shop's Alpha Tabs on the yellow card cut with the smallest MFT Fishtail Banner Stax die of that set. Arthur was fussy cut and joined the Lawn Fawn and Third Coast bee stamps in punched circles. The card base was cut from 12x12 KI Memories card stock.
I used Outlawz' current Wednesday sketch, but after resizing to 5.75"-square, I then rotated it 180 degrees. I wanted to use bees instead of buttons and they usually are buzzing in the air. I also added Arthur so it's an extra element, but I don't think it throws the movement in the sketch off at all.
A close-up of the bees to capture the Sakura Clear Star metallic gel penning on the wings.
And some clear Wink of Stella carefully brushed on Arthur's irises. Since he has green eyes, I wanted to highlight them.
And a final view. I always enjoy using Beccy's Place digis, and it's a breeze to print now with my new printer -- worry-free! (So far so good, anyway, got my fingers crossed and prayers recited!)
Thanks for visiting, and I hope you are having a crafty week! XOX

Aimes, you are so imaginative when it comes to putting scenes together in a collage style. I love your unique talent in accomplishing this, and have not seen it anywhere else. In this case, the circles are completely delightful to accentuate your little critters, and the wording is MARVELOUSLY put together. Beccy's freebie done in pale blue is striking! Thanks for always telling a great story, and bringing joy through your artwork. hugs, de

ReplyDeleteI just had to get a new printer also. Mine was about eight years old and gave up the ghost. I had a heck of a time aligning the cartridges with the new one, but it's done now so it should be clear sailing from here, I hope. My husband was not very fond of the colorful language I was using while trying to do the alignment. This card is so wonderful. I have quite a few of Beccy's pre-colored images. I love them. I saw this on the Outlawz and just had to come see how you fussy cut the birdhouse. It's absolutely perfect. I want to learn how to have my Cameo 4 fussy cut my images. I have a friend that does it perfectly every time. Great card, though. Yours always are. I am getting burned out and don't feel like making cards right now. I got all my April cards done fro the Outlawz. I am not happy with them, though. It's really hard to be creative when I don't want to do it. We're getting ready to travel to see the baby. I am really looking forward to seeing him, but I intensely hate to travel. Oh well, no other way to get to Michigan.
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, this is adorable! Loving the bright, sunny and cheerful colors!
ReplyDeleteThis is great and I love that you have decorated the back of the card too. Thank you for sharing your lovely design with us.

ReplyDeleteThis is a great card and I love your sentiments.
I'm a big fan of bees. I've been crocheting lots recently in aid of Guide Dogs. I'm fundraising to name a Guide Dog Arthur after my late father.

ReplyDeleteYour card is fabulous Aimeslee, I love the bright and happy colours! I also love the play on words for both the sentiments. The little bees are very cute and it was a great idea to add the metallic gel pen to the wings, they shimmer nicely. I also like the way you've highlighted Arthur's eyes... they look very cool!
ReplyDeleteCheers,

A very bright and cheerful card, which is fitting for a birthday card, or bird-day, or bee-day card! I love the sketch you used, and how you incorporated your critters into it. Thanks for sharing your cheery card with us at 2CCC this month, and good luck! :)
