Hello and Easter Blessings on this Sunday! I hope the weather is nice where you are and you are enjoying the day. Honey and I spent some time in the yard earlier, talked to Dear Daughter on phone and are now cooking dinner. Thought I'd pop in to share a little tag I made for the carrousel display in my art corner. It still has a few open spots for Spring pretties.
I'd printed this colorized version of Jan's Digital Stamp's Little Lambkins once I got my new printer, along with a few other images, to test the printer. And it was sitting on the top of my image pile when I decided to try to make a mostly monochrome tag for Michele's Tag Tuesday challenge, so I've used it and gone with yellows to key off the pretty yellow of the basket.
This being the second time I've used the image, I tried to do something a bit different. So I picked out a very old TCW stencil "Daisy Doodad" and sprayed the back with Pixie Spray to keep it steady while I used colored pencils as my stencil colorant. Back in the day, we used to actually use colored pencils with stencils on scrapbook layouts. Mostly for lettering, but sometimes patterns.
I used 3 shades of Polychromos yellows with sharp points, outlining first in the darkest shade and then filling in with the other two shades. Had no idea how this was going to turn out. Just having fun 'What If'-ing away. I also used 3 different yellow sheer ribbons and 2 layered paper flowers with a white bead sewn together with needle and thread, all from my stash.
I'd printed the lambkins on Springhill Digital card stock, my usual printer choice, and then grabbed a 4x4" coaster as my tag base. I have way too many of these, both square and round, and need to use them! I cut the image with a Spellbinders Scalloped Square die, sprayed it with the Pixie Spray, centered it on the tag and then began stenciling. Everything was fine and dandy until I removed the stencil and then the image from the coaster, and realized I had not pressed them enough on my clothes because they were really sticky and that transferred to my image and coaster. Oh no! What to do? Well, what I always resort to: get out the Perfect Pearls and brush it on until it's no longer sticky, lol.
This pic shows you can see the Perfect Pearls adhered where the stencil was. Problem averted, but that was a close one. I didn't want to spray a sealer on and risk the inkjet colors running.
To make the back look pretty, I got another coaster and some Palette Hybrid yellow inks. I brushed on some Paris Lights all over the coaster, then laid down the stencil (after making sure most of the sticky was gone!) and stenciled with Sunflower. Then I glued it to the front after I'd done the ribbons and flowers.
And here is the tag hanging from the carrousel in my little art corner. I've got a little spotlight on it in this pic, but with just my fairy lights the shimmery ribbons and the Perfect Pearls give off a nice shine from the piece. I enjoyed taking this break from making cards and hope to do it more often, as I do need a few more Spring tags and also Christmas tags. Thanks so much for visiting and stay well and crafty! XOX
