Easter Card #3 for Love To Craft April Anything Goes Challenge #57

Ain't no April foolin', Folks -- it's April 1st and that means time for a new Anything Goes Challenge #57 at Love To Craft! Please take a look-see at what my teamies have made and join us! Any type of art is okay as long as it's family-friendly and not all digital. And you can enter 5 different projects. I'm sharing my team design with you today, an Easter card for my mother-in-law. She loves easel cards, so I happily obliged. I'd never done a landscape easel, but the sketch I'd chosen called out to me, 'Fold it across the middle!' Seriously, it kinda did! lol So this is my very organic attempt at one and I think it worked well, even without following any tutorial. Thank goodness it wasn't rocket science! ;-)

This card began with a line drawn 4x6" Kaisercraft for Coloring post card I received as a freebie in an online order a few months back. I tossed it into a stack to look at later. Well, I got tired of moving it around and began coloring it with Promarkers, Pitt Artist Pens and Flair Pens. I used silver metallic gel pen on the fence gate, too. When finished, I laid it aside to dry. Then as I began planning for Easter cards, I really wanted to used these adorable Little Lambkins by Jan's Digital Stamps. (They're like Easter Trick-or-Treaters!) But I groaned lazily at the thought of creating another scene. And then, it came to me. Just like PB meets J, lol. And I went looking for a sketch and the rest you know.

SplitCoastStampers Sketch SC691 is a good little utility sketch, especially for digis and for stamped scenes. In this case, I used both! I resized the sketch in PSE for 5x7" and the post card I'd colored was a perfect fit for Element #4 of the sketch. The horizontal element I chose the striped ribbon for is a great way to hide the card front easel fold, too.

The springy green card stock came from a DCWV 4.5x6.5 Mat Stack I've had forever, and the card base is white Recollections heavy card stock. The flowers and greenery on the easel stop were cut with Hot Off The Press Tiny Flowers and Leaves die and colored with Promarkers. I also used Promarkers to color up the Lambkins which as popped up with thin dimensionals. I used Viva Decor Pearl Pen and Stickles to dot the flower centers along with a few tiny punched circles. A Lawn Fawn Happy Easter die cut out of Recollections scrap finished up the easel stop. I did add a skinny butterfly ribbon to the stop edge to give it a touch more height for ease in setting up the easel. My m-i-l is an old pro at setting up my folds but she's also 91, so I do try to make it easy for her. I also include a little modeling graphic I found on Pinterest and printed out. Never assume your recipient knows how to gently unfold a fun fold. I've heard stories of cards being torn trying to set up the display. Just sayin'...

Here is the inside of the card when opened out flat, and the back when displayed. I created the sentiment in PSE and printed. On my back I used some DCWV card stock scrap from a previous project and hand-stamped and white-heat-embossed a Lawn Fawn siggie stamp before adhering to my base. I also matted the bottom of the card with another piece of this scrap. When the card comes out of the envelope is the only time it's seen, but I do like to paper all surfaces when I can. ;-)

Those Lambkins need a close-up, Mr. Deville! Each lamb and the basket are all separate images. I worked with the png's in the set did a little PSE maneuvering before printing out. They're just so cute!

And a close-up of the flowers. Love the weave going on in the card stock. Reminds me of my childhood, always getting some new kind of springy wardrobe item to wear for Easter Sunday church. I know I had a little purse with a weave and probably a jacket or two.

And a final view. Thanks for visiting and allowing me to share my art with you. I'll be back tomorrow with another Easter card, but until then enjoy your Easter weekend! XOX
