Birthday Sunshine

Happy Weekend's End! How's your April weather treating you? Ours has been windy, rainy and cool. Every once in a while the sun peeks out. Maybe that's why I've seen yellow challenges lately. We're all craving sunshine. I was game to play, so my card today required me to use yellow with gray as my neutral/accent color, and if possible have a touch of elegance, ribbon, metallic/glitter colorants, flowers and be a shaped card other than square or rectangle. Well, I think I "did" them all!

I used yellow DCWV card stock for the card base which I cut using a Crafters Companion Die'sire Create A Card Stacey die. The largest die in the set makes a 4-1/2 X 5-3/4" card. I also cut outside mats with some gray SU card stock. I cut inside mats from some Lily Bee Happily Lost designer paper. The MFT sentiment was hand-stamped in Morning Mist (gray) Versafine Clair ink, heat-embossed and then cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Tags #1 die and partially colored with a gold Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. The focal image is a LaBlanche Framed Peony, hand-stamped with part Cheerful, part Golden Meadow VersafineClair ink and clear-heat-embossed. The flower, leaves and frame edges were colored with yellow Wink of Stella and then outlined with gold Wink. The image background was colored with a Bright Ideas silver gray metallic marker. The peony was then coated with clear Wink, and the frame was ink distressed with a dark gray Promarker to define the outer edge a bit.

I used this SplitCoastStampers sketch SC48. My focal image is an oval shape.

I laid down a light yellow wide sheer ribbon across the card under the focal. On top of that in the center of the first ribbon I laid a darker yellow sheer glittery ribbon. Then I laid criss-cross 2 strips of a third gold yellow sheer ribbon. I like the texture and the little dressy design peeking out.

I found these gray herringbone papers in the Lily Bee Happily Lost paper collection, so I cut the inside mats from that. Since I did not make the card for anyone in particular, I'm waiting on adding inside sentiments.

I love looking at my cards from the side when I take the time to coordinate the front and back. I wish now I'd made two of the herringbone paper piece and used the other one underneath the ribbons. Oh well, live and learn, maybe next time. ;-)

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I made this card, and I wish everyone a good week ahead. Thanks so much for visiting! Stay well! XOX

MY CHALLENGES PLAYLIST:
2.   ModSquad Challenge 4/7-4/20: Perfectly Pantone -- #1/3 I've used only yellows and grays.
3.   The Rainbow Card Challenge April: Delightfully Daffodil -- After studying the graphic, I see bits of grays and greens in addition to the yellows, so I'm using gray here as a neutral to my yellows.
6.   AllSorts Week 620: AG + Opt. Add Ribbon -- #1/3 Option played! I've used 3 ribbons across the center
10. Through the Purple Haze #179: AG + Opt. Ribbon/Lace -- #2/3  I've used 3 ribbons across the center.
11.  The Crafter's Cafe #264 15th April: Flowers -- #1/5  11 Challenges Max - Done :-)

Wow, sunshine in today's card! Love it! The gray looks so nice against yellow--a colour I wouldn't have thought to put with yellow. I always love to see how you coordinate the back of your card, and once again you don't disappoint. I love the gingham paper die you used. Fits perfect on the back.

Well, April Fools is on us. We are to expect a tiny bit of snow tomorrow into Wednesday. We always get ahead of ourselves putting out the patio furniture when temperatures are hot, and always get caught.

What a beautiful bright and sunny card. I have been loving yellow lately. Last week it was in the nineties here, but has cooled down a little.

OH! Sunshine in abundance, a Beautiful card Aimeslee, Love the gorgeous ribbon, dies, papers, gorgeous card from front to back.
In reply to your colouring name, I like the "utility colourist" idea, yeah! I think I'm one of those too. Thanks, hahaha. The sentiment? Nope got it off the web! Such a great place to visit once in a while.
Keep well and hope the sun shines on you today and tomorrow and the rest of the week, but you have to have rain too! It keeps the grass green!
Hugs
