Baseball Birthday Card for Brother

Hello! Happy Fri-Yay, or as we are saying down here in Texas, Fry-Yay -- it's HOT, lol. Hope everyone is well and safe. Honey and I are Same-Old-Same-Old and thankful we are. I have been feeling the heat and have had some issues with numbness and pain in my fingers due to my spine and that is why I haven't posted in a while. Haven't been able to create, but I am slowly trying to get back up to speed.

I am sharing my brother's birthday card today, using a Split Coast Stampers sketch, another Dr. Digi digital image and a background of Gecko Galz collage sheet images. My brother is a hard core baseball fan, so his dream Summer Love (Gecko Galz's August theme) includes 9 innings of play every day if possible.

I took some leeway with this one, following it loosely yet keeping all the elements. I stretched the sketch horizontally a bit in my mind to make a 5.75"-square card that fits in a 6" envelope. I have a stack of 6" kraft envelopes and they never get used, so I cut a stack of card bases that fit for future use.

Papers: SU card stock, Springhill card stock, Carta Bella 6X6 Baseball Collection patterned paper
Stamps / Images: Dr. Digi image Slugger Sam, Gecko Galz Good Sport and Vintage Sports collage sheets, Gelatins siggie stamp
Inks: Promarkers, VersaMagic, printer ink
Dies: Spellbinders 6X6 Card Matting Basics die, Spellbinders Labels 14 die, Lawn Fawn Every Day Sentiment Banners die

After choosing the sketch, I cut out and ink-edged my collage sheet images with the VersaMagic, printed out Sam and the computer-generated sentiment, colored him up with Promarkers and fussy cut him. I used a banner die to cut the sentiment, then I messily and quickly colored and ink-edged it.
I adhered the vintage images in 2 columns and then placed Sam standing on the banner, which I intentionally made just a hair askew. I think he goes with these vintage images quite well, which is why I am drawn to Dr. Digi's images. They are for adults - a little wacky, cheesy, snarky, caricature-ish, but also very well-drawn.

For the inside of my card, I chose 2 Carta Bella sheets as my mats and then adhered the computer-generated sentment. I signed it on the light-colored outfield.

The back features another sheet of Carta Bella with a GG image I cut with a Labels die, then stamped my siggie over the baseball.

Here are some close-ups of these cool Gecko Galz collage sheet images. I forgot to say that I re-sized them in PSE on a 6x6 blank file so that I knew they would fit. I almost just printed them out as one digital image, but I wanted to ink-edge them and I think they look cool on that dark navy blue card stock mat.

I was a bit rushed to finish this to get it in the mail to my brother, so I just gave Sam a basic coloring and tried to stay in the lines! lol

Well, my heartfelt thanks as always for coming by to visit me and allowing me to share my creativity with you. Stay well and safe and Happy Weekend! XXO

Wow, this card is really amazing. I love all the details on it, the way you arranges all the background pieces. Love that you finishes the back, too. Great idea to make the cards 5.75 square. I have a bunch of 6" square envelopes that I never use because I always make 6" square cards.
