White on White Wedding

Happy Thursday! Later this morning, the wedding adventure begins. We are having dinner with the bride and goom and his parents this evening, then the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner Friday night and the big day outdoors on Saturday right before sunset. The weather forecast is cooperating, too! Still, I'll be glad when it's over. With my 5 arthritis's, I have a condition called auto-immune disorder. My fight or flight thingy goes nuts under a lot of even good stress. Then I get all kinds of weird reactions and ailments. Honey has been cracking the packing whip and all I wanna do is make art because I've trained myself to diffuse stress that way.

So, I did finally get our card for the happy couple finished. I went with a white-on-white color scheme, as that is the color this month at Rainbow Card Challenge. I chose one of my favorite A Day For Daisies digis: Mr. Right. I used my mom's lace and dear daughter will love that. She also likes buttons, clear rhinestones, pearls and flowers, so I included them in my design. I stamped Papertrey Ink quotes about marriage on the card front and inside, and both being avid readers, they will appreciate them. I also used Verve sentiments on front and on back.

I followed the current Atlantic Hearts sketch, contorting it a bit to fit my materials better. First, I stretched the sketch in PSE to 6x6".

Then I flipped it horizontally. The white vine is the curved line in the sketch. I needed an open design so that I had places to fill in with the meaningful embellishments.

I used a variety of paper/card stock in order to get different textures and whites. The 6X6' card base was cut from a 12x12 silver and white patterned sheet of DCWV Luxury Stack card stock pad that has a shimmery pattern on one side. I made that side the inside in order to have a white outside. Then I cut and edge-distressed base mats for the front and back from the rest of the sheet. The next layer is some thick handmade pulp paper (like mulberry but thicker and stiff) I've had for maybe 10 years, cut with a Spellbinders Art Deco Fairmont Label Nestie die. The top paper layer is the sheet of index stock I printed the digi on. I stamped the Papertrey quote on Mr. Right's back.

One of my Christmas presents (from Amazon Santa, who is moi!) was Tim's Crochet Lace Thinlit dies and I tried them out here, cutting into a sheet of Crafters Companion Shimmering white cs. I cut two of one of the larger dies and then topped each with my mom's lace. The paper flowers are ancient Prima Fleurs that I still have stored in their original canister.

Here's the inside of the card, Papertrey quotes stamped on left, and on the right are Stampin' Up sentiments. I cut some index stock using the Spellbinders Art Deco die for my stamping surfaces. This set of Nesties is getting used quite a bit!

Here's the back of the card and I love it! I used a Spellbinders Circle Contempo die to cut some thin Mulberry paper -- reminds me of the wedding quilt pattern. I used glue stick to adhere it to my base mat. I then took some corrugated craft I've had forever and never used, and I used the Love Frame die by Joanne Fink for Spellbinders to cut a heart. On top of that I adhered a truly ancient bride and groom die cut I'd bought at Hobby Lobby (it came with wedding bells, stained glass window, Bible, rings, none of which I've ever used). I guess it's back in style because it looks pretty cool! (Wait long enough... heehee.) On that die cut I stamped the Fontwerks MA Sexy font C&K with Versamark and heat-embossed in silver. Same with my Impression Obsession siggie stamped at bottom. I hand-wrote "Est. Feb.1, 2020" and then added the Verve sentiment strip stamped on a scrap of the CC shimmering card stock.

Here's an angle showing all the shimmer and shine on the back. I thought I was nuts wanting to include that corrugated layer but I'm glad I went with my intuition. The texture is yummy and I had no trouble with the happy couple adhering to it.

My final touch was adding some Frosted Lace Stickles to her umbrella. Yum, love that thick die cut pulp paper layer peeking out, don't you?

Well, I'm glad that's done! My mind was a blank for so long trying to figure out what to make.

A really pretty wedding card. The white color works really well for this and you have added so many wonderful details for the new couple to peruse! There really is much ado at weddings, they can be stressful. Hope you have a nice time.

Did you come up for air, then, lol? So good to see you in action again in the midst of all your preps. Easy to see you're in wedding mode with the white on white and what a creation! So many lovely things used and that lace of your mum's will be treasured, I'm sure. Love the verses - I miss Verve stamps and have a few.

Loving your usual internal decoration and the way you decorated this. I'm sure she'll love it.

Deep breaths...it will soon be over and you'll be so pleased with the way it turns out. Happiness wishes for the happy couple and prayers for you and your body - let's hope those inconveniences are kept to a minimum so that you can sit back and enjoy it all. I remember my face aching from smiling so much on my son's wedding day. It was very, very special. Praying for you all.
