What a Beautiful Day

Happy Fall, Y'all! This week was the beginning of Autumn. Here in southeast Texas it's Indian Summer because we don't really get much different weather other than the temps and humidity are a wee bit lower. We actually like to call it Hautumn. I love that! Regardless of the name, it's time to make a few cards to send to my mother-in-law and to an art friend who sends me cards. I'm sharing the card to my friend today.

The idea for this A2 sized card began with me wanting to use my Altenew leaf frame die. The frame is probably not meant for Autumn, more likely for Spring, but you know me. Had to be uncoventional, but I think it can be used for Autumn just fine. I saw a challenge to use vellum and found this text in some very old vellum phrases in my stash, and it fit the frame's center perfectly.

No sketch this time! Shocking, I know! What I did was take a piece of 110# index stock a bit bigger than my card front and I sponged on several colors of Palette hybrid inks, then die cut the frame from it. I glued the frame to a cream card base, then ran the vellum sentiment through my Xyron, adhered to the middle frame piece and trimmed out before adhering the piece to the card.

The inside is a bunch of different manufacturers' stamps, but I think they all go together pretty well. MFT, Artistic Outpost, Pink Persimmon, and a few more I can no longer remember.

For the back I used snippets from my stash and forget who made the patterned paper, it's quite old. The siggie is a Sugarloaf stamp.

Close-up of the vellum sentiment. Xyron-ing is a fool-proof way of attaching vellum in my book. Burnish well. The Palette inks are gorgeous colors that never disappoint me. I need to use these inks more often.

And one final look:

A beautiful Autumn card, Aimeslee. Those leaves look so much better with little to detract from them and the words are perfect; every day is a beautiful day in some way.

Lovely Hautumn card. The colours are so intriguing and beautiful.

It's cooling down to the low 60's during the day and is close to freezing overnight. I think our Hautumn is over.

A lovely card Aimeslee, I think the colours you used on the frame make it look perfect for Autumn and they really stand out on the cream background.
I always like the way you decorate your cards on the back as well as inside, something I always keep intending to do.

Yes, it’s lovely die, Ainslee, I so agree, and love the previous two cards, saw this Die when looking at background dies at weekend and though how nice it is. Pity they’re so expensive. Can’t justify that much. I was in Houston Texas end of Sept last year so know how warm it can be, it’s snowing up in Spokane where my friend is in north west but boiling your way, funny old world.
Thanks for popping over, saying hi and sharing, Shaz in Oz.x
