Pick 3 Challenge card

(card created by me, using SC Sketch #079 and Wausau and Bazzill card stocks, unknown sentiment stamp, Purple Onion label frame stamp, MAMBI corner stickers, heat embossing with Ranger Black Sparkle powder)

Well, here is my card for this past week's Pick 3 challenge. It's too late to place (it was due last night by midnite), but I'd started it this weekend so here is the finished card. The scan does not show the sparkly goodness of the frame and the sentiment.

I love to heat emboss stuff, and as I've gotten more practice I've learned a couple of things. First, the Ranger Distress Inks really do work great for heat embossing, as long as you do not need too fine a detailed impression.

And now I also know why Black is always in demand. I used to think, what a waste, since I have plenty of black ink pads in every other type of ink and usually use my Distress inks to accent and do mixed media projects with. Well, having some black distress ink is good for heat embossing. The frame label I stamped, embossed and cut out to put on this card was my third attempt at the embossing. On the first two, I stamped with an embossing ink pad only, relying only on the powder to supply the color. I got uneven coverage as a result. Parts of the frame were more densely black than others which were just a faint color. So, using an ink the same color as the embossing powder alleviated this.

Anyway, the challenge was to use 3 of the same elements of Denise's card

I chose:
(1) copying her layout design in general, which is almost identical to the Stampers Corner sketch I used,
(2) using corner embellies, and
(3) using a center flourish as she did.

I also stamped my sentiment as she did.

Even though I was a little late, I didn't want to get out of the habit of the card challenge. You who know me know it's not really winning that motivates me, it's creating and crossing the finish line. Of course, winning (recognition) is plenty nice, don't get me wrong. :-)))

Have a great Monday!
