Joy to the World Reindeer

Happy Sunday and I hope your weekend has gone well. We continue to get rain statewide every day, which is very good for our drought conditions down here in Texas. But it causes me to feel miserable with my Arthurs and allergies. Vox nix...there's always something! I am thankful to have a hobby to try to take the mind off of the pain. I'm a bit behind on my blog visiting because for a while I couldn't sit or stand for very long, but I do aim to catch up tonight.
Today I have a Christmas card made mostly from scrap stash and using the Pattie's Creations black and white digi Reindeer In Snow that I colored with Promarkers. The A7 white card base is Springhill Digital card. The dark pink card is SU and the 3 designer papers were offcuts in my scraps stash. They were all originally from a sweater knit paper collection but I forgot who made. The Sizzix Treeline border, Catherine Pooler Joy and Spellbinders Fleur de Lis frame peeking out from underneath the focal image are all dies that were cut from white Springhill Digital card and were leftover orphans in my Christmas box. The Papertrey Ink sentiment was stamped on some of the SU card with Versamark, heat-embossed with white powder and then fussy cut.

I used this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my layout design, resizing to A7 in PSE. I lowered sketch element 4 some because I thought it looked better that way.
I can honestly say, this card was a pain in the arss to make because I kept messing things up! I had a pretty big scrap of the trees paper, enough to cover both base mats on the front and back plus a little leftover. But I only had a long strip of each of the other two patterns.
This is how I was able to cover sketch element 2 with the sweater plaid paper strip. I was able to line up the plaid perfectly, but then I had to cut it down across the middle a bit because I messed up the overall dimensions. Had I snapped to my measurement error earlier, I could have just butted up the papers together and cut some the pink mat card off the bottom and avoided the long way around. The horizontal band sketch element 3 covered up the cuts and gaps so problem solved. However, that wasn't the only screw-up I had to salvage.
While stamping the top Papertrey Ink sentiment with Onyx Versafine ink on the inside of the card, I accidentally dropped the stamp and it left a faint impression on the left side. I was able to erase only some of it, so I tried stippling Tumbled Glass and Weathered Wood Distress Inks through a Memory Box Flurry Frame stencil. But I could still see it. So I grabbed the lightest gray ink I have, my Gray Flannel Memento ink, and did some random second-generation stamping of the sentiment all around. Honey was my judge and he said, ok now it doesn't look weird, lol. So I guess that means I salvaged that!
Then after covering the back with SU card and more tree paper, I realized I was out of my siggies and was going to have to stamp out another page of them. By then, I was getting cranky and decided to just  leave that for another day.
I was going to add white Stickles to the trees and snow, but because I was wanting to be done with the card, I settled for dark pink glitter gel pen noses and a little shimmer spray over the whole image. The photos don't pick up the shimmer but it looks nice in real life. 😉
Final view. With all the trouble I had, I'm pleasantly surprised and thankful with the result. Those darn paper scraps and leftovers are like crack to me and the wisest thing to do would be just to trash them, but no, I have to always try to use them up. 😏😣😬
Thanks for stopping by today and good week ahead to all, XOX

I hope your weather improves so your feel better. Joint pain is not fun. But the rain has to help the drought. It rained here yesterday and I think again today. We are dry also and it could rain all week without being a bad thing. Especially as you said with a hobby to keep you busy. And take your mind of things. This is another fun holiday card. 2022 is your year for. Christmas cards. Hope you feel better and don’t get any flooding. Hugs-Erika.

You absolutely have to always use up the paper scraps--never throw anything away is my motto. You never know when you'll be able to use them up on a fabulous card like this! I love all the fun patterns and the shimmer!

Awesome job covering up your "boo boo". I can't see it at all. Love how everything turned out. BTW - I would love to take some of the rain off of Texas. We're drier than a bone and hotter than.....well you know. ;)
