Hello and a happy Sunday to you, hope you are all keeping well. We've had a horribly hot 2 days, but this evening we got rain and even hail! Lightning, thunder and winds, too. It was crazy. Honey and I were all excited and counting the seconds between lightning and thunder like when we were kids, lol. Had to turn off my computer during the storm just in case, but now that it's over, I'm popping in to share a heart-shaped tag that will be on my Valentine tree come February. I got the idea for it from Tag Tuesday, where the theme is Holidays/Travel, as well as Gecko Galz's Wanderlust challenge. I had a few of the bits in my collage box so I had to make it! 😊
I called it The Dark Side because I'm alluding to a common theme in stories (and life) where someone goes to an exotic fabulous place but ends up sad because they miss their loved one(s) or found and lost a new love. Lots of ways for the imagination to go, lol. I thought this would be a good tag for my tree to add variety amongst all the traditional Valentine-y tags and ATC's I already have. I hope to make a few more 'Affairs of the Heart' items for my tree to round it out.
I used my Spellbinders Classic Heart and Scalloped Heart dies for the base and Scalloped Heart die around the Gecko Galz collage sheet image of the sad lady reading/writing a letter. I used white card scraps along with a couple sheets of patterned paper from Prima's Welcome to Paris 6x6 collection.
Then I gathered very old stamps for my collaging. I know who made a few of them: PSX, SeeD's, Avery Elle, Technique Tuesday, Inkadinkado. Plus a few more I've long forgotten who made. I stamped them on the Prima papers and fussy cut them. The large Eiffel Tower stamp is a Crafters Companion French Chic stamp from Creative Stamping Magazine Issue 107 that I'd stamped on scrap card a few weeks ago to help a friend as she correctly thought hers was messed up. So, I brushed it with gold Wink of Stella and fussy cut that to use.
Back of the tag view. I tried keeping it neat, adding another heart like on the front cut from the Prima paper.
I may not have told a complete story with my collage, but I think I gave the imagination enough to create one, lol. And I created an interesting tag for my tree, so the day was productive. I also ginned up more ideas for the tree and perhaps a Deco...just hope I got them all written down.
Thanks for the visit and I hope your week starts well! XXO

I've used a Gecko Galz digital image from the Love Me Do digital collage sheet
I've never heard of anyone doing a Valentine's tree but what a great idea! Your heart shaped tag will be perfect for it.

This is a great tag. And I am loving the idea of a Valentine's tree filled with heart created art. I love those vintage images And I had to laugh at your story about counting between thunder. I still do that if the storm is bad too. I hope it has cooled off for you though. That humidity must keep you inside with the AC-and I hope that is fixed by now. If not, stay cool (which you probably need to do anyhow since it is July). Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI really love this Aimeslee, beautiful colours and images!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a heatwave here at the moment, I've been hiding in my art room where it's reasonably cool. No hardship for me! :-)
Happy new week,
Alison
Good idea to turn off your computer during the storm. I remember counting the seconds between thunder/lightening as a kid. I would sit on the patio in a lawn chair and watch the storm. Of course, lawn chairs back then were metal with fabric for seats. Now when I think of how crazy that was I realize I definitely didn't have any brains back then. I was just asking for trouble. Awesome tag for your Valentine's tree and I think having one is a great idea too. Stay safe my friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Aimslee, how lovely to see you here at Tag Tuesday with your gorgeous Tag.
ReplyDeleteI love the Paris theme, what better place to have a holiday, or so I'm told,as I've never been to Paris, lol.
I hope you are keeping very well.

I have never heard of a Valentine Tree, a lovely idea Aimes. As for your beautiful work, it opens up so many stories on this, I'm sure a lot of people could relate to at least one on it. Your storms sounds immense, loud too. We had rain to break the heatwave around this part, not a lot and no thunderstorms, just enough to lower the temperature but it's going to be hot on the weekend. I hope Arfur doesn't like the heat either and is leaving you alone?

A friend of mine has a Valentine tree and I have just recently finished making her a set of heart shaped tags to put on it next year.
ReplyDeleteYour tag is spectacular. Thank you for sharing with us.

I am with Pamela - I haven't heard of a Valentine tree before. I will need a couple more looks to take in the sadder, darker side. I will be in touch during the weekend.

Lovely piece for your Valentine tree. I love all the layered elements and bright colours. I know so many people who likes the sound of rain. Me, my anxiety kicks in. LOL
ReplyDeleteSuch a clever creation, beautifully made.
