Eat/Drink Your Vegetables!

 Hiho, hope you are all merry and staying cool in this heat. I have a birthday card to share with you and its theme is vegetables. That's right. I saw the MTTC Veggies theme and went, wut? I was stumped, so of course that made me try to come up with something.
I've used a digital coloring page (Kawaii Veggies) from Kate Hadfield as my focal image, colored with Polychromos pencils over the digital color, on front, along with a computer-generated sentiment that is a set-up for the inside sentiment.

Original Sketch -> Sketch Rotated Clockwise, then...

Sketch Flipped Horizontally -> Card
I used this Splitcoaststampers sketch as inspiration for my layout/design but it ended up being just a starting point. I did rotate it clockwise and flip it horizontally. I'd originally planned an A2 card but saw my new colorful envelopes when I went to pull one for this card. I'd bought them on Amazon thinking they were A2 size but they are for 4x6 cards! So I was like, okay, I'll make some of those since I do often use 8.5x11 and 12x12 card stock for card bases. So, I made this card 4x6, but the Cheery Lynn scalloped purple background die cut I'd cut left some open space, which led me to adding 2 different patterns of washi tape at top and bottom. Then I got the idea to use a Spellbinders Nested Paisleys die to cut out the sentiment because although I love paisleys for themselves (my blog name reflects this), at this moment their shape reminded me of a long-necked squash. 😁😏😎
So, what do I have left to describe? Oh, the little Lawn Fawn party hat was stamped with Monarch Versafine Clair, then colored with Spectrum Noir Glitter Markers.
So here's the inside. I created the sentiment in PSE and added this nice Bloody Mary image I found on the internet as free clip art. After printing I cut it with an MFT Pierced Rectangle die, then cut another scalloped rectangle out of some DCWV leaf paper to put underneath.

Thought I would share my coloring. The first image is what I printed out. The other two are my coloring over it with Polychromos colored pencils. In addition to coloring all of it, I added lines, shading, texture and fun. I love doing this, especially over marker coloring, but this one made me realize I don't have enough variety of pencil shades.
And final view. Thanks for the visit and have a great day! XXO

MY CHALLENGE PLAYLIST:
Inspired by birthday, lots of faces and food
I've used a Kate Hadfield coloring page called Kawaii Veggies

Aimeslee: Wow! You got this posted just under 2 hours to go!!!! This is phenomenal!!! I love the humor and clever approach to the dilemma of what to do with veggies! And the paisley shaped cut-out does resemble a gourd or squash--so another cleverly brilliant out-of-the-box inspired idea!!! The depth of color and details you added to the veggies does make them more vivid. Another good decision! Thanks for not 'stewing' or finding a way to hide your veggies from MTTC! :) --Becca/DT

SO bright and colourful Aimeslee and with a fun element as well - took one of my son's till he was 30 to get that message across.

Oh my goodness, as soon as I saw this it reminded me of books I read when I was younger by the Garden Gang with penelope strawberry and Roger radish. You need to google it to see what I mean if you are not familiar. I think its just fantastic! Thank you for sharing and for taking part in the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday challenge. Good Luck! Mel x

Those are the cutest veggies. I would have never thought of making a card using veggies. And the solution is perfect. This is clever Aimeslee. What a fun card. You have changed my mind about what art can be made with veggies. Have a great start to the new week. hugs-Erika

Hi Aimeslee,
I love the card and your colouring of the vegetables. You have more patience than me. I know that Kate doesn't do a pre-coloured version of this one. I am with my fellow teamie Pamela. I think that the only vegetables I like in the picture are mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes - but I agree with the sentiment.
