Make a Wish Birthday

Hello and welcome, hope everyone is doing well. Happy FriYay! Home repairs never go as planned, but we are hopeful that our little vent hood replacement will be completed today. We bought a GE vent hood to go over our range top 2 years ago and the fan died. The one before that had lasted 20 years before the light fixture died (just amazing how things are no longer made like they used to be), so we figured we'd better get it replaced before Summer. Honey went to Home Depot and picked out a Vissani (a Magic Chef brand) to have them install it. Some dedicated circuitry electrical work  and retrofitting had to be done and today will be the actual install. I just pray this one lasts until we leave this house, if ever.
Today I have a masculine birthday card to share. I've used the pre-coloured image and background papers from The Paper Shelter's A Mesmerizing Fortune Teller digital set, along with some Springhill Digital white and SU brown card stock mats on a white 6x6" Bazzill card base. So, I did NOT do any coloring on this card, which was a refreshing change!

My design layout was guided by this Splitcoaststampers sketch.
Before printing the image, I added the "Make A Wish" to her crystal ball in PSE with the Text tool. After printing it out, I stamped some Sassafras Las curly swirls and dots with Morning Mist Versafine Clair and a Stampendous Happy Birthday sentiment with Warm Breeze Versafine Clair. I cut the base mats and other square layers with Spellbinders 6x6 Matting Basics dies.

Inside the card (at left) I used Warm Breeze VF Clair ink to stamp Uniko and Hero Arts sentiments. On the card back ( at right) I printed out some lovely digital background paper I won from Lozzy at Nin's Papercrafting and layered on a brown SU mat with a stamped and punched siggie and brown scrap strip.
And a final view. I do think this made up to be a nice masculine birthday card with me using the monochromatic browns. Real men can handle a tiny bit of crystal ball pink, right? 😁
Thanks so much for visiting me today and I hope your weekend is everything you are wishing for! XOX

  2. Good luck with the fan Aimeslee. I need a new belt on the dryer which costs about $10, but with the spare bedroom (now called the art space) project going on, the hubby has had no time to do it. I looked at buying a new dryer, but now the inner drums are made of plastic instead of metal. And it bugs me with my Yankee sensibilities to pay over $100 for the repair man to come in. I could practcially get a new dryer by the time someone fixed it. You are so right about things being made cheaper and cheaper. It bugs me they do that, because you know these companies just do it so you'll need to replace things sooner rather than later. And to think of the waste it all makes. ANYHOW- I am loving your gypsy masculine card. That is a fun image. I wonder what the recipient would wish for in the crystal ball. Have a great weekend. hugs-Erika

  3. Wow! You may not have done any coloring, Aimes, but all the coordinating papers, layers, contrasting in white, look incredible! Gorgeous! Glad you have your hood replaced. I hear you about things not lasting like they used to. Huggers, de

  4. LOVE the image and the fabulous background and design, love the card Aimes. I know about things lasting, we had a kitchen installed 25 years ago, we replaced it because we couldn't find a replacement door, which had warped over the oven. We have had ours 3 years now and it's in the same state as the last one after all those years. So disappointing, I REALLY hope your hood lasts as long as you hope!
    Keep sane!

  7. Oh Aimeslee it's good to know that we're not the only ones with an issues during a new hood install. We had the same problem with ours only my hubby was doing all of the work until his brother in law came over to help with the electrical stuff. Then things went smoothly. Your card is fabulous as usual.

  10. By the time I write this everything should be back in place for you. Repairs eh! This is another successful sketch. I think what draws me in is the way you stuck with all the dark brown. This sketch can take one off in an ugly result. You've got the neck to work with sketches. Have a nice evening
