Happy Weekend! Hope you are enjoying it your way. We are snuggling in tonight with more cold weather and had an early dinner of soft tacos, black beans, Spanish rice and sliced avocado. I'm stuffed, so good!
This Valentines card is for my dear mother-in-law and Honey will be taking it to her along with some red roses. The single rose is an Alex Syberia digital image - I printed it 3 different ways. I used My Favorite Things Roses All Over 6x6 stamp with Barn Door Distress Oxide ink to create the vertical paper strip behind my focal. I cut the background roses paper from a 12x12 sheet of DCWV floral stack patterned paper. I matted all layers with SU card stock and cut a 6x6 card base from a 12x12 sheet of Bazill card stock. I also used several little punched hearts from my Valentine stash. The sentiment is from Gracielle Designs Together set and was cut out with my deco scissors.
For my design layout, I used the current challenge sketch at Cheerful Sketches.
To color my focal image rose, I smooshed my Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral, Red Barn and Fired Brick ink pads onto my craft sheet, sprayed a bit of water and used them to watercolor. I also scribbled some Mowed Lawn Distress Crayon onto the craft sheet and with a damp brush, painted the stem. Then came the fun part, loading up my small round brush with ink and making splatters. I never do that because I'm a wimp about it, but not anymore, hahaha! Big step for me!😄My new favorite technique!😄
The inside of the card turned out so well I hope to make a card front like it! I took a scrap piece of red card stock, cut it to fit my card, then stamped the MFT Roses stamp in Versamark and white-heat-embossed it. {Swoon!} Then, using Spellbinders Classic Heart and Classic Scallop Heart dies, I cut them out of more scraps. I stamped the sentiment from Artistic Outpost's Cutie Pie set in Versamark and white-heat-embossed it. {I also Love to white-heat-emboss, can you tell? 😄}The back of the card has more of the DCWV paper and I've stamped a Kaiserkraft heart directly on it, then added another Kaiserkraft siggie image stamped with the DO Barn Door, heat-embossed, then fussy cut with deco scissors.
Close-up!MY CHALLENGE PLAYLIST:
-I used Alex Siberia's Dreamy Rose digital image
-Paint splattering and white-heat-embossing are my fave techniques
-I used Red and Green from the Theme Colors
I used the inspiration board this time for the color red
Watercoloring using Distress Oxides and Crayons
I took inspiration from the roses, colors and heart shape
Dies Used: Spellbinders Circles, Scalloped Circles, Hearts and Scalloped Hearts (inside card)
Took inspiration from colors, hearts, rose

I found two different ones with monster trucks on them. I just had to print...so easy! On to visit what I've missed.

ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounds delicious Aimeslee. We spent the day doing some demo in the spare bedroom to fix up my art space, and we were tired enough to throw in a frozen pizza (kept in the freezer as back up for just such occasions). Glad you enjoying the cherry nut cake. And glad my dad's favorite cake sounded good enough for you to make one. Smile. I am loving this pretty rose card for your MIL. Thanks for sharing it with us at Try It On Tuesday. It's perfect for the All Loved Up. I bet your MIL will love it. Have a great start to the new week. Hugs-Erika
