Vintage Valentines

Happy Thursday, blogging friends. Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm.
Here's my monthly spread in my faux travel notebook journal. I decided to document what was a favorite childhood memory for my parents, which when explained to me made me delight in them. I think Vintage Valentines were my gateway drug to my developing like of vintage style. I don't have any one particular style (I say I'm eclectic), but I have made art in a vintage style for many years now, enough to feel pretty comfortable with it and to also collect many vintage stamps and images. So, I'm happy to claim it as a favorite style of mine. Plus, it complements my love of history, especially cultural history (how folks lived).
For my layout design, I used the current sketch at TN Time with Lisa and Lori.
I have a Valentine's Day paper stash drawer, so I pulled out some rocket red copy paper and a sheet of Jenni Bowlin designer paper for my background. I used a Martha Stewart XOXO border punch along the left side. I used a scallop dot border punch on the blue paper scrap. I fussy cut the girl and the bird house from Gecko Galz' Valentine Wishes collage sheet. The bingo card may be Gecko Galz as well. I found it in my drawer already cut out and I ink-distressed it with some vintage paper Distress ink. I used My Sentiments Exactly alpha stamps and tulip red Versafine Clair ink to make the words on the kraft card sentiment strips. I traced over the letters with my white gel pen, then ink-distressed the edges with turquoise chalk ink. I added some white candy heart die cuts made with Cheery Lynn's Sweetheart Candy dies, some red foil hearts and some red enamel dots from my stash.
I found a faux postage stamp in my drawer and added it on this side, along with more Gecko Galz images and a blue punched scallop dot border strip. I used my Quickutz George Washington font alpha dies to cut the white Love.
The foiled hearts give off a nice little shine. I bought those long ago from an online german scrap shop.
And a final view. When I look at this, I will remember my parents, their many stories and my love of history. So, time well scrapped! Thanks for visiting me today and I hope your week ends just how you need it to. XOXO

MY CHALLENGE PLAYLIST:
Explained in above post
I used images from GG collage sheet Valentine Wishes; birdhouse and bingo card from monthly sheets

  5. This is a fun Valentine's Day journal page Aimeslee. Those vintage Valentine card images are fun and heartwarming too. They remind me of being a kid when we had the Valentine's exchange at school. The blue really pops off the page also. Nice color choice. I might have those same little hearts too. They are lots of fun to use, aren't they? Thanks for sharing with us at Art Journal Journey and also at Try It on Tuesday. Hope your week is going well. Hugs-Erika
