Happy Fri-Yay to all and hoping we're all well.
Time for another Outlawz Festive Friday Challenge with our sponsor Sherry West Arts. I've used the sponsor's digital image called Happy Thoughts Bear with Butterfly to create a card in two colors: turquoise blue and yellow.
Here are our themes for this challenge. I've used the Birthday theme for my card.
For my design layout, I chose this Splitcoaststampers sketch to resize to A7, and I was originally going to use paper strips for Elements 1-A, 1-B, 1-D and 1-E.
But THEN, I thought oh wow, I'll use my brand new A7 Kat Scrappiness leafy frame die! And I'm really glad I did because I cut it out of watercolor paper and it cuts so nicely. I used VF Clair Warm Breeze ink to sponge onto my watercolor card, let it dry, then I die cut. I also took a Derwent Inktense pencil in a bit darker shade and traced over the leaf veins with it, then ran a damp round paint brush over that. The white card underneath the frame got stenciled with Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and a Memory Box Texture Shine stencil. The sentiment is by Inkadinkado and I stamped with Versamark and heat-embossed with white powder.
I printed the cute little bear and butterfly image out on Springhill Digital white card and colored them both with Promarkers. Then I fussy-cut them both, arranged and adhered them to my card front with glue dots. I dotted yellow Wink of Stella glitter in the centers of the flowers the bear is wearing. I used a white gel pen on her nose and eye. I used a metallic gold shadow gel pen and Viva Decor turquoise Pearl Pen to accent the butterfly and then when that was dry I brushed clear Wink of Stella over the wings.
My inside inserts are papers from Prima's 5x7 Sasha collection and I've stamped a Darkroom Door sentiment with the VF Clair Warm Breeze ink.
On the back of my card, another paper from the Prima Sasha collection on an SU card mat, along with leftover strips on which I stamped the MFT siggie in Versamark ink and heat-embossed with white powder. The photo makes this Sasha paper look green, but it truly is turquoise and yellow dots and smudges. The eye must want to mix them to be green. 😊
Here's a close-up of the butterfly, showing the shine of the gold metallic gel pen and you can also somewhat see the brushed glitter on its wings.
And a final view of my card. I enjoyed using my new frame die as well as using these two colors that I love together, and I also had a chance to stencil. Thanks so much for visiting today, and I hope you are looking forward to a productive and satisfying weekend. As for Honey and me, we are feeling a bit better and plan to snuggle in our flannel for a cold and cloudy weekend that will turn cold and sunny. I'm hoping to get outside for a little of that sunshine, as I've missed it very much! Please stay safe and well, xoxo
