Over The Hill Birthday

Hello again! Hope all is well with you. I'm back with another birthday guy card. This time I made a half-sheet card - the card base is a sheet of letter-sized card stock fold in half. Although it does make a large card, I am beginning to like this size for some cards.
I began with a black SU card stock base. I used some very old 12x12 Junkitz collection papers on front and back. The striped strip crossing the card diagonally is bordered on each side by lengths of striped ribbon. I've also added a stitched ribbon to the center. I think it looks enough like a road, that's what I was going for. The stamped sentiments are Fiskars. The focal motorcycle is a digitally-manipulated photo. The graduated circles shape is an Inkadinkado stamp.
I went with a grungy look incorporating some of the colors in this photo.
For my layout design, I chose Splitcoaststampers Sketch SC323, but I resized it to half-sheet size (5.5x8.5"), in order to better accommodate my image and sentiments.
The motorcycle is a photo I had in my files that I darkened in PSE to be more like a silhouette with its colors removed. I printed it out on the red Junkitz paper with my Laserjet printer, then I took an embossing pen and colored it, then coated it with some Seth Apter Ancient Amber embossing powder and heated it to get a more grungy look. I smeared some black Wink of Stella underneath the image and then cut the image out with a Creative/Practical Publshing Nested Octagon die. I rubbed the edges of the octagon messily and liberally with a yellow Sakura solid paint marker. I layered that on top of a black SU card stock square cut with a Spellbinders Art Deco Fairmont Label die. I edge-distressed the bottom yellow paper layer with a Tim tool.

Some close-ups of the "road" with ribbon, the embossing on the bike photo and the sentiment quote.
Inside my card, I used a sheet of old Scenic Route lined paper and stamped a Technique Tuesday bike chain border stamp and Elizabeth Craft and Stamplorations sentiments.
Here's the back of the card with more of the Junkitz paper and a Technique Tuesday circle-punched siggie.
And a final view. Thanks for visiting me today and until next time, stay well and keep on crafting! xoxo

  5. That road is terrific - so many elements to it but it looks very realistic. Great masculine card - something I certainly struggle to make!

  8. This is such a great guy card! I have quite a few motorcyclists in my family. They would love it. I have started making some of my cards that have a lot of detail in the larger format. Between arthritis in my hands and vision that is going downhill quickly I need to make my images larger. It helps!
