Hiya, Tuesday - um, weren't you just here? LOL, well I guess we are all having fun cuz time be flyin'! Hope all is well with each of you. I'm sharing the wedding card that I recently made our oldest nephew and his bride. The invitation they sent had a simple yet pretty design and color scheme, so I took my inspiration from it for the card.
It may not be apparent, but I've watercolored the 3-layers of wreath and I also watercolored the gold lace with Twinkling H2O's. The lace is some of my mom's. I'd never done that to lace before. It took several coats, drying with my heat tool after each coat. On the wreath I used my good tube paints and 3 different shades of green with a round brush, roughly swiping color on in thirds trying to get a variegated look. It didn't end up like I'd envisioned because I was limited in my shades (I don't even try to color mix on my own as I never do well at it), but it looks okay. I can see subtle color differences.
I've used Splitcoaststampers Sketch SC481 for my design. Although I used a round center shape instead of an oval, the effect of the ornate corners creates a large oval shape. My gold lace is the horizontal line element.
Here's the invitation I used as my inspiration piece. I've blurred out the personal info to protect the innocent, lol, but you can hopefully see the gold font at top (their names) and also those pretty wreath-y leaves. Sure do hate that we cannot attend it. It's just too risky for us. I cut my A7 card base from a large leftover piece of 12x12 Bazill shimmering card in winter white. It also has a weave to it which feels nice. The grey patterned card mat was cut from a leftover from my recent 50th card I made, the card is from DCWV's Luxury Stack. The ornate corner pieces are a Spellbinders die cut 4 times from a gold sheet of DCWV's 6x6 Foiled Cardstock Stack, as is the circular center piece, also using a Spellbinders die. The wreath is cut 3 times from a Catherine Pooler die. The Avery Elle stamped and heat-embossed sentiment is on a snippet of the Bazzill card base card and punched using an SU punch. The bride and groom is a punch-out from a very old calendar saved in my clip art binder.Inside the card I stamped Sweet n Sassy sentiments using Shady Lane Versafine Clair ink...
And the card back: As I only had one little strip left of the luxury card, I cut it down the middle and then straddled those strips with a piece of handmade pulp-y paper also cut from a leftover. I stamped the Catherine Pooler leaves and die cut them, then arranged them with the rings (another calendar punch out) over two white dove die cuts that have been in my clip art binder for a very long time (Hobby Lobby back when I began scrapbooking, before I bought my first die cutting machine). I added tiny green rhinestones for their eyes. I adhered a strip of my painted gold lace underneath another old item from my binder: a Melissa Frances vintage shop sign label. Back in the day, she sold 12x12 sheets of these and I have way too many, so hey, why not stamp my siggie on one, especially since the bride's first name is Lauren! 😎
The shot I take to see how well-coordinated the front and back are. This being a card made from leftovers, I'd say it passes muster, lol.
I included this shot because it shows the shine that comes off the gold metallic card (almost like mirror card, actually, but thinner and much easier to cut intricate dies with). Burning burning love! 💋😁💋
Here's a close-up of the water colored wreath leaves and the sentiment strip card weave.
This is the best close-up I got (after way too much pic-taking) of the glitter/shimmer on the lace.
Here's a close-up that shows you the different textures going on in back and also the heat-embossing shine on the stamped siggie. And the final view, not bad for leftovers! Thanks for visiting and I hope your week goes well! Until next time, Stay Well and Craft On! XOX

ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful wedding card. I love the wreath and gold lace. I started sewing in high school. I made many of my own clothes and many items on commission, including a wedding gown. Never again. I don't like sewing for someone else unless it's a gift from me. Getting paid is not worth the effort. Anyways, I have always saved fabric scraps and leftover pieces of trim from every garment I've made, including communion dresses, my wedding gown, fancy party dresses and most of my kids clothes. I use some of the leftover trims on cards occasionally when I need something different. I also have my grandmother's antique button collection. I am definitely a hoarder when it comes to old stuff and crafting supplies!
ReplyDeleteA lovely Wedding card and I love how you've taken your inspiration from their Invitation to make it so much more personal. Love the design with the wreath surrounding the couple.
