Happy FriYay, everyone! Today I'm sharing my design team make for Outlawz new Festive Fridays challenge which starts today 8/20 and runs through Thursday 9/2. This challenge gives you themes to choose from and you can enter as many times as you like with a different project. The themes this time are: Christmas, Thank You, Congratulations and Anything Goes. Our sponsor for the month of August is Jan's Digital Stamp Shop and I am using a pre-colored penguin image from her digital set Brighten the Holidays.
Aside from my digital image (printed on Springhill Digital card) and the green SU card base and mats, all papers used came from my Christmas papers scrap stash. I used Versafine Clair Green Oasis ink to hand-stamp the CAS-ual Friday Fa-La-La sentiment, Papertrey Ink Deck the Halls sentiment and Stamplorations 'Tis the Season sentiment. I used Impression Obsession's Christmas Lights die to cut the lights with white card. Then I colored them with Promarkers and a Sakura Silver metallic gel pen. All of the rectangles and squares were cut with Spellbinders Matting Basics dies.I used Splitcoaststampers Sketch SC297 for my card design, resizing it to A7 in PSE for my measurements.
On the inside of my card, I arranged sentiments from Jan's digi set in PSE and printed out. Then I hand-stamped various light-themed elements from Paper Artsy, Crafters Companion and Hero Arts. Then I colored with Promarkers and glitter and metallic gel pens.Close-ups to show the glittery shine...The back of the card has more paper scraps and a hand-stamped Kaiserkraft siggie.Another close-up of the front to show the glitter gel penning on the penguins' lights and metallic gel pen on the die cut lights. I also used Nuvo Crystal Glaze on every light bulb for some clear dimensional shine. And a final view. Thanks for visiting me today and I hope we all have good weekends! Until next time, Stay Well and Craft On! XOX

Oh what a great festive card! Those penguins are delightful and their sparkly lights are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou had mention surprise at the opacity of the watercolor on the dark cardstock. That is true for metallic watercolors. They work better on darker backgrounds than they do on white.

Wow, this card is so bright and cheerful. Cute penguins! I hope you are doing well. I've had my grandkids for a little while. My daughter and her husband went to a concert in Austin. I am free as of this afternoon so I actually have time to catch up on my commenting. My grandkids tend to hog my computer. Little buggers.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great Christmas card - I love the expression on the penguins faces. A card that's sure to raise a smile.
