65th Birthday Convoy Guy Card

Hello again! How is everyone doing? I often wonder how everyone is holding up under the various pressures of the day. We live in uncharted times and there is not one of us free of at least one heavy mind load. Many have several. As unique as each of us are, we really are all in this huge collective mental challenge together. I just want to put it out there that I care and consistently pray that we all work through what is happening and come out on the sunshiny side, that we all pass our tests, so to speak. For whatever it's worth... :-)

So then, onto my card. We have a friend turning 65 who is a commercial truck driver, so I am playing off that for his card. And he likes the cartoon character Muttley, so I added a bit of that as well. I did not find a whole lot of non-cutesy trucker-themed digital images/stamps, so I ended up going with one from Dr. Digi {shock!}. I have definitely been using his images lately, haven't I? It's really coincidental as I have a spate of guy birthday cards to make this time of year and it's easy to use his images for guy cards.

The sketch I used is a Split Coast Stampers sketch from March 2020 that I resized to 5x7 in PSE. I fussy-cut the image after coloring it and adhered it on a mat of Cosmo Cricket. The dark teal base mat is from a 4.5x6.5" DCVW Mat Stack. I cut a narrow strip from another Cosmo Cricket sheet and on that I have a Route 65 graphic I made in PSE flanked by two of the Spellbinders Symbology One dies. I colored them with Promarkers and brushed on Silver Wink of Stella. The sentiment was computer-generated and printed along with the image. I placed it on a scrap of the Bazzill Smoothie Dark Kraft card base and some green stripe washi tape.

Papers: Springhill, Bazzill Smoothie Dark Kraft and DCVW card stocks, Cosmo Cricket Summer Love patterned papers
Stamps/Images: Dr. Digi Roadhog Rita, Muttley coloring book clipart found on internet
Ink: printer, Memento, Promarkers, Zig Ball Pen, Wink of Stella glitter ink
Dies: (All Spellbinders) A7 Card Matting Basics, Symbology One, Racing Flags
Other: Striped Washi tape, Posca Paint Pen

One thing I wanted to note: if the Kraft card stock base looks green, that's because it was ink-blended many moons ago with some very old Nick Bantock dark olive dye ink I had in my Use It Up box. I pulled it to use because it went with the papers. I hadn't used it before because it was not going well with anything and became an orphan. I'd tried a technique to color your Kraft card stock, but learned the lesson to do a test on a scrap first! heehee Oh well, I finally got to use it YAY!

The inside: I did some lightening of the Dr. Digi image in PSE so that it became the background to my corny poem, on the left. I added the Racing Flags die cut out of scrap to the bottom. And on the right, I typed a sentiment, printing both out on the Springhill card stock and then cutting down to 4x6 to adhere.

I put the images of Muttley on the back of the card, along with a computer-generated sentiment and my stamped Clear Dollar siggie. A DCVW base mat and some Cosmo Cricket paper is underneath.

A close-up of the front image that I colored with Promarkers and hilighted with a Red Zig Ball Pen, Silver Wink of Stella and Silver Posca Paint Pen.. I just love their expressions! haha And we've all been there, I'm sure!

I hope our friend likes his card and I hope you enjoyed it as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Stay well and safe, XXO.

First, let me thank you for the nice comment on my card blog. I've become a follower so I can see what you are up to. Second, your card is so awesome and so full of detail. Your truck driver friend is going to love this! So many things to look at! Third, please stay safe with Laura and Marco. I'll keep you and all those affected by the storms in my prayers. We do have way too many things preying on our minds right now. We don't need any more. But I always believe that God doesn't give us anything we can't handle. Please stay safe!
