Hello, hope you've been surviving the week and are doing okay. I went ahead and got Honey's Father's Day card done so I'm sharing it today. He re-kindled his affinity for gardening this Spring, so I made that my card theme: Honey in the garden with his toys. 😊
I've used Basic Grey Phoebe papers and a Di's Digi named Gardening Pop (retired) colored with Promarkers, along with 2 embossing folders, die cuts, paper flowers, fussy-cut stamped sun and dragonfly, and some leafy ribbon.
I used the current sketch at Creative Sketchy Girls for my 6x6" layout design. Here's the sketch and my card side by side to show how I followed it.
First thing I did on this card was to emboss the background using a piece of the BG and an Altenew 3D embossing folder.
Then, using Promarkers, I colored the raised leaf surface all around the background, alternating between shades of green/blue for interest. Most of it got covered up by the end, but I wanted the effect of lots of vines and garden greenery from what did end up being seen.
Next, I cut the 2 sketch element circles with Spellbinder Classic Circle dies out of BG, then I embossed them with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder and inked the raised surfaces and edges with chalk ink.
I arranged the circles on the background.
And I added the horizontal sketch element strip using another pattern of the BG. Then I added a Sweet n Sassy grass die cut at bottom of the strip using green stash scrap card.
Next I added my image matted with brown BG that has the corners rounded using a Fiskars punch. The grass is on foam tape so I could tuck the image in underneath at bottom. I cut the "relax" out of white card with a Sizzix Tim Vacation Words die. I glued down the two vertical lengths of leafy ribbon and added blue Prima paper flowers. I die cut some flower centers using Rubbernecker's Tiny Buds die and colored them red. Then I added dots with a Viva Decor Ice White Pearl Pen. I pulled a circle tag from the BG collection and stamped the Pink By Design and Verve sentiments in Versamark and white-heat-embossed it. I used a die to cut a reinforcer for the tag and then added a yellow brad. I stamped the D.O.T.S. sun stamp with VFClair, colored with Promarkers and Wink of Stella glitter pen and adhered with dimensional foam. I stamped a Smooches dragonfly with Versamark and heat-embossed it with Wow Galaxy e.p. Then I colored it with gel pens and Wink of Stella.
Inside the card I used another Di's Digi, Green Thumb Ted, and colored him with Promarkers. I added the sentiments and a frame in PSE before printing out on Springhill Digital card. I colored the frames with Promarkers and layered the image on a piece of the BG.
I'm showing the back of the card with the front to check continuity. I added more BG paper and another BG tag with my stamped and punched siggie.
Close-ups of the sparkly sun and dragonfly.
Clos-up of the white-heat-embossed sentiment.
And final view. I hope Honey gets a kick out of it. I really enjoyed making it and getting a little more dimensional and cluttered than usual. Thanks for visiting and have a great day, XOX
