Playing with my Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 Winnings!

Happy Tuesday, hope you are all okay. I've had to go back on an arthritis damage medication for awhile that initially makes it harder for me to focus and it also messes with my motivation to do anything. So for the time being I'll be struggling. I beg your patience with me, I will go back to normal after a couple of weeks. For now though I'm very introverted and off to myself.
For this card, I was struggling to line up the vertical strips just right (thanks to my meds) so I gave up and just made them wonky on purpose. I stamped the focal image with Memento Ink and colored with Promarkers. The round circle mat is a Spellbnders Hem-Stitch die and the bow is a Stamplorations die. The solid yellow card is KIMemories and the patterned paper is Urban Lily (it's all very very old).
Thought I'd show you the Patterned paper. Really Retro! I like the colors so I thought I'd use a sheet to layer on my yellow base mat and match/blend colors for my image off it. I am pleased with how that turned out. 😌
So, a few months ago I won the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 December challenge and the prize was this stamp set. It was sent all the way from the UK. Royal Mail! I am excited to have it because I think it's adorable and I don't really have anything like it in a "real" stamp. But I sure need to practice coloring to see what works best for me. Until I do you'll just have to suffer with my boring utility coloring. 😊  I hope to try water coloring next.

The layout design is based on the current sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2, as a thank you and show-off of my fab prize. I will try to make a card with the mice on the mushroom using one of the sketches in the next challenge.
Once I finished coloring the focal image, I gathered up my gold shadow and metallic glitter gel pens and accented the bow, butterflies and birdhouse top. I then used an ancient Technique Tuesday border stamp on the vertical strips. I love that far away they look like zig zags but a closer look reveals it's a leafy vine that I also colored with Promarkers.
A close up to show the glitter gel penning, Nuvo clear gloss dotting and gold shadow pen work.

At left is the inside and a Crafty Secrets and Papertrey Ink stamped sentiments. At right is the card back, a Technique Tuesday/Sweet Stamp Shop siggie on some of the KIMemories card.
And a final view. Thanks for visiting and I will visit blogs just as soon as enough of my brain returns! Enjoy and if all else fails, just keep creating! xoxo

  3. Aimeslee: This is darling! And for me, I grew up with the big flower power patterns that were popular in the 70s! :) So I love the background paper! The stamp set is adorable too and great for springtime cards! Thanks for layering and participating at MTTC! --Becca/DT
