Hello again, here's my second post for today. I love how the card I'm sharing turned out, but the photos did not want to capture all the colors realistically in the same shot, except for one and here it is:
This is the only shot that shows the greens, the purples and the gold reasonably true to life. As you will see, because I just gave up and said to heck with it, use what I got and move on. I do very much love the card, though, and am so glad I took a chance on it as it is not my usual style. I was inspired through color by the Paper Dragonfly Mardi Gras challenge with optional dragonfly played, and the Tim Holtz Thinlits sentiment die choice was inspired by Moving Along with the Times Friends challenge. Both are listed below.
Here's the Splitcoaststampers sketch I used for my design. And you will see, the colors are different. Because I played the option, Paper Dragonfly wants me to explain how I've incorporated the dragonfly. Well, I used a sketch with a butterfly element, so I just substituted the dragonfly. But I also like the decorative touch it gives. It points to the sentiment and it's a beautiful die. I received it and a butterfly as a gift wrapped in tissue paper, no idea of the brand. It reminds me of a piece of jewelry or a fancy metal bookmark from back in the day.
So here's a rundown of materials used:
SU green A2 card base already made, large gold mirror board leftover scrap, dark purple designer paper is BG Wisteria, the stripes are from Lawn Fawn's Polka in the Dark. Spellbinders postage frame die, MFT Dainty Dots border. (I put all the dots back after adhering each border.)
Another really too-bright green shot, but here's the back. The purple BG Wisteria paper is nice. I stamped a Kaiserkraft siggie and colored in the letters with a Sakura gold shadow gel pen.
And a final view with it all lit up, haha. Thanks so much for dropping by and I hope your weekend's going well. XOX
MY CHALLENGE PLAYLIST:
The borders, postage frame, sentiments and dragonfly are all dies - all the gold stuff.
Two rows of borders, two sentiment words, two colors of striped paper

Wow, this card is so stunning. I love the two different striped papers together. Sorry I haven't been by lately. I have been dealing with some pretty sever and ongoing pain. I think a lot of it is from having to sit with my grandson so much everyday. I have always had pain and trouble walking since the spine collapse, but now I almost can't get into a standing position sometimes. I am starting the gym again this morning...this should be interesting. Last time I was going I was really able to build strength in my back and got rid of much of the pain. I haven't been able to fo because of the homeschooling. I wouldn't ask my husband to take over for me because he didn't want me to home school in the first place. He finally offered to watch him so I could slip out to the gym a couple times a week. I think he's tired of seeing me in so much pain.

That gold really pops. Loving how you used it on this card. This would work for Mardi Gras with your colors, but really anytime. They are bold and beautiful. Have a great start to the new week. Hugs Erika
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Aimeslee with those wonderful green and purple stripes which look great with the gold matted layers, die cut button look borders and pretty dragonfly and super large sentiment. From your comment to me a couple of hours ago it sounds as though it is your birthday today, and if so I send my best wishes and have a lovely day. x
