Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Hello again, hope you are cozy and warm. We 've had lots of rainy dreary days and now some cold, but I really cannot remember a winter until now where I've had trouble with the lighting like my UK and Euro friends so often do. I'm having a devil of a time getting my colors true in my photos. So far, just subtle differences, and since this is my hobby and not my job, I'll live. But it is annoying (like when you know your card base is cream but it photos white and vice versa), so for all who endure this, I feel your pain! 😞
I just love this pre-colored Holy Night digital image from The Paper Shelter. (I printed 2 of them so you will see it again.) And the colors match so well with these very old Making Memories 12x12 foiled papers I had in my stash. I was also able to color mats that matched as well using a Petrol Blue Promarker: the card base mat, a mat for the wide horizontal paper strip, the mat for the image, as well as the 3 snowflakes mats and the fussy cut sentiment strip.

I chose this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my layout design and followed it faithfully.
Since I used 2 Making Memories paper patterns and you can only really see one of the patterns on the card, I'm also showing you what the other paper looks like. That way you will hopefully be able to understand what I describe next...
The Altenew sentiment was stamped in Versamark and then heat-embossed with Ranger Enamelware powder. The 3 square mat were cut with a Sizzix nested squares die and the snowflakes were cut from shimmering card using an Elizabeth Craft die. I lucked out being able to place the matted image on the wide MM paper strip so that the foiled strip edges peek out from underneath the image on each side to create a border AND also have one of the stripes be in the center of the Snowflake squares. Gotta love that, especially since I discovered this after matting the image - almost a perfect fit! Hopefully, seeing what the striped paper looks like aids my description. 😬
Inisde, a Stamplorations sentiment stamped Versafine Clair Warm Breeze ink. I filled in the "Christmas" with a red Sharpie.
On back, more of the MM papers with a colored and circle-punched Technique Tuesday stamped siggie.

Some close-ups to show the foiled shine and details...
And a final view. Love how this one turned out and I think the foiled papers and image give off a vintage vibe, hope I have done this gorgeous image justice! Until next time, keep on craftin' and stay well! xoxo

  7. Just read your lovely comment Aimeslee, yes Lincolnshire is one of the adjoining Counties and our Fenland where we live stretches their boundary so they also have lots of flat landscapes, strange to some with no hills but beautiful to us. On a clear day we can see Ely Cathedral ten miles away!

I don't know anyone by those names I'm afraid and none came up when eldest daughter and I were doing our family trees, I can see that's an interest of yours as well.

Don't see a followers option on your blog so if I'm not by again before, stay safe and well and have a lovely Christmas.
