Birthday Blessings Guy Card for September's Anything Goes Challenge #62 at Love to Craft

Happy Hump Day AND September 1st! Well, I've had a stress-y morning, I got locked out of my blog! Everything was frozen, including my scheduled posts, but just a few moments ago it's working again so I'm quickly publishing this. Fingers crossed it was just a blip! 🙏

It's time to share my design team make for September's Anything Goes Challenge #62 at Love to Craft Challenge Blog. Check out the link to find out more and come play with us!
One of Honey's work buds became a very good friend of ours over the years along with his wife, and I always send both of them birthday cards. They retired to a house on a lake a couple of hours away where he fishes a lot, often with his grandkids. So, I thought he'd like this scene. There's no lighthouse or rocky cliffs where he is, but he knows by now that I use what I have...

I was inspired by Splitcoaststampers Sketch SC56 for my layout, including the 4x9" card dimensions. A little factoid: this sketch was created in 2006, proving that the current fad of Slimline cards is nothing new. 😁
The card base was cut from a sheet of Recollections white heavyweight card. I used Colorbok Marble card for the next layer, wonking it a tad. Before adding the top Springhill Digital card layer, I inked a sky on it using Distress inks and a blending brush, then I stamped my scene using Creative Expressions Gone Fishing slimline stamp and Nocturne Versafine Clair ink. Once dry, I blended a bit more ink to accent the horizon line, edged all around it with a black Promarker and then adhered it to my card front, again wonking it. The last thing I did was to stamp the Clear Dollar Stamps sentiment with Nocturne Versafine Clair. Then I was done. I kept it flat for mailing.
Inside I've stamped a mashup of Hero Arts sentiments from 2 different sets...
...and on the back, I kinda went to town using Tutti Designs Slimline Torn Edge nesting dies and papers from my summer-themed scraps. It's all inlaid and one layer. And yes, a bit tedious since I used thinner papers and not card, but I had fun doing it. The recipient already let us know it reminds him of a big aquarium and he liked it. And that is why I did it. 😎
And a final view. Thanks so much for visiting - Stay Well and Craft On! XOX

  8. This card rocks my world! Loving the brightly coloured sky against the silhouette. It's funny this challenge was an old one. I make mini slims but not full sized-ones because I'm challenged on using up a long narrow space. Did buy a mermaid slimline stamp though, which I'm dying to use. Your backside to your card is lovely as always.
