Hello everyone! Hope your week has begun well. I'm on "hurricane watch" once again and waiting for Tropical Storm Nicholas to hit in a couple of hours. So far, knock wood and praise the saints, we've had little more than a steady gentle rain. We're supposed to get big wind and sustained hard rain for several hours. I wanted to try and get this posted in case we lose power.
I've had this Art Impressions stamp set for awhile and thought it could help me make a decent birthday card for one of my nephews who became a first-time dad this year. He might not even notice these hilarious pandas look like they are wearing diapers, lol. I thought this Splitcoaststampers sketch would be cute to use, resized to A7 and printed out for measurements. I began with a Making Memories smooth red card stock base, added a layer of white card and then striped and dotted Lawn Fawn patterned papers matted with some red printer paper from my stash. My focal is stamped on Springhill Digital and matted with more of the red paper. Everything stamped is AI except the top sentiment, which is a mashup of MFT and MSE alphabet stamps. I've painted the pandas' hats and pants with red Wink of Stella. I paper-pieced the mug with my dotted paper. The inside with more of the AI stamps. Would you believe I almost ruined it adhering the white card to the base. Sometimes my hand just moves like it did today and I had to rip it up real quick and the top layer of the bottom left edge of the red base tore off with it. What to do? MFT die-cut photo corners to the rescue! Glued down to get that bottom left one just right and no incriminating boo-boo's, Phew!
A close-up of the red Wink of Stella painted shimmer...The back has a white card layer and some Lawn Fawn stripes over that, with a Kaiserkraft siggie stamped with Memento ink.
I took an overhead shot of the card because I love to look at it to see if I've coordinated the front and back well enough. I think this one works! 👍

These pandas look like they're having fun! I'm fond of panda stamps because my son loves pandas a lot. The sketch you chose to use is a really nice one. It's one I wouldn't mind using. But, you know once I leave your blog, it won't stay in my mind--LOL. I like how you coordinated the tea cup with the background. Job well done!
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you in the hopes that you remain safe and that the hurricane doesn't cause too much distruction.--Bethie
