Hot Dog! It's Your Birthday!

Happy new week, y'all! Wow, that last one went by fast, but then I say that every week, LOL.  Hope everyone's good. We're well into the Dog Days of Summer down South, which is a groan-worthy segue' to the card I'm sharing today. Hey, I resisted the urge to say we're "in heat" down here...oops, heehee. 😁😁😁
So, my birthday list always calls for several guy cards this time of year. I'm in a bit of a smart-alecky mood, so I went for the puns on this one which features that loveable cartoon dog character Muttley. I've cut my 6x6" card base from a 12x12 sheet of Making Memories red card stock, reserving the rest of the sheet for matting, etc. In addition to the Springhill Digital white card I print on, I also used sheets from Pebbles A2 Birthday Wishes Cardmaking Pad and Avery Elle 6x6 Everyday Collection.

For the card design, I went with Splitcoaststampers Sketch SC855, resizing to 6x6" in PSE to get my layers measurements, which I stuck reasonably close to. 😜
I've also used die cuts throughout the card. On the front, I've used Avery Elle's Signature die for the red circle behind Muttley which is matted on a Spellbinders Classic Circle die cut. Below the circles is Avery Elle's dotted fishtail banner die cut and the sentiment next to that is a Spellbinders Labels 4 die cut.
Muttley was printed out in color from an image I already had. I gave him a Clear Dollar party hat, stamped on one of the paper scraps and fussy cut. The hot dog patterned background was created by me in PSE using Angie Blom's Sizzling Good Time digi set. I printed that out in black and white and then colored the dogs and red background using my Promarkers. The sentiment is also from Angie's set.
On the inside, I used Avery Elle papers cut with Creative Expressions Nestables Octagon dies. The sentiment was created and printed in PSE using the middle phrase from Angie's set. I added the top and bottom phrases. I thought up the Relish phrase and just had to use it, lol.
For the back, I used the leftovers from the front. A green strip scrap cut with a Lawn Fawn banner die is the first layer on a sheet of AE paper. Then, the largest red circle was cut using Spellbinder Circle die out of the red card I cut the front AE circle from. Then a smaller AE circle was cut out of white card and I colored it red with my Promarkers, after stamping my Hero Arts siggie on it with Versafine Clair ink.
Here's a close-up of the hot dog patterned paper background I created, printed and colored. It was tedious arranging and resizing the same image multiple times, but not hard to do. I like the end result. It looks to me like Muttley is giggling at the pun!
And a final view. Thanks as always for stopping by. I  hope your weekend was fab and best wishes for a great week ahead! Until next time, Stay Well and Craft On! XOX
