65th Birthday Guy Card

Hello, my lovely blogging friends! I hope your week has been going well. Yesterday did not go well at all for me health-wise, but today has been peachy!
I have a lawyer friend turning 65 and made him this card. The minute I saw the QKR Stampede digi called Weighing a while back I snatched it up for this card. I ran across the gorgeous American Traditional Designs patterned papers I used quite by accident. I was at a loss as to what papers to use, so I grabbed my "A" paper file holding my 12x12 papers alphabetically by mfr. And there they were. ATD's A Guy's Life collection, from 2005. Ha! 😜😎😊

I used SplitCoastStampers Sketch SC383, resizing it to 5x7 in PSE. I actually followed this one almost  to the inch...almost. There are stamped books in the sketch's white focal section, just in case you didn't notice it because of the bear. 😉😊
Ok, so white Recollections heavy card stock base and all the mats as well as the sentiment band was colored by moi using Distress Ink-blending. And the reason why was that I had no fabulous card stock color match to the patterned paper in any shade, really, and I wanted a dark gray-blue with hints of green. And so I made my own. I wanted a sedate, professional, respectable look for the scene surrounding my goofy-looking attorney bear. I used an Impression Obsession books background stamp for his law library and used a die cut Avery Elle seal to mat his age numbers (numbers were cut with Lawn Fawn dies). I actually used 2 of the die cut seals, layering the gold-painted one on a bare white one. I did use a kinda goofy looking Clear Dollar sentiment stamp heat-embossed in white, but other than that, the bear and maybe the bright orange, it looks like a lawyer's office. Well, at least the ones I remember from my work days.
For the inside, I used CAS-ual Friday and Fiskars sentiment stamps on the left. And on the right is self-composed sentiments in PSE and printed out on white Springhill card stock, then ink-blended with DI's before stamping. I used a Crafters Companion Die'sire nested die shape set called Stacey, but to make the shape less feminine, I used them upside down and I like them! 😂
On the back, more of the same papers, a hand-stamped siggie mashup with Clear Dollar and MFT stamps cut with a Clear Dollar label die, and in the middle an Impression Obsession stamp, Versafine Clair Twilight ink cut with a smaller die from the Stacey set. The white Springhill card stock I stamped and die cut  was inked before stamping with Distress Inks.
I always try to snag of close-up of any bling, shimmer, shine or glitz, so here's this. I used a metallic silver colored pencil on his tie clasp, white embossing powder on the sentiment and Gold Wink of Stella on the scales and on the seal die cut. The bear was colored with Promarkers and fussy cut.
And a final view. Thanks for visiting today and until next time stay well and craft on! xoxo

MY CHALLENGES PLAYLIST:
2.   QKR Stampede Challenge #425: AAG -- #1/3 Used QKR digi "Weighing"
3.   Color My Heart Color Dare #425-Photo Inspiration -- #1/xx I chose the blues and greens and oranges, gray of the bark.
6.   Colour Crazy Craft Challenge Week 30: AAG w/Colouring -- #1/2 I colored the bear image and numbers with Promarkers, the seal and scales with gold WofS  and all the card stock mats with Distress Inks.
13. A Place to Start August 2021 #8: What's Your Style? -- #1/8 Well, I am eclectic and have many favorites depending on the project and my mood, but I've used one here that I use a LOT: Clean and Layered, using a sketch, collection patterned papers plus stamping (and a little ink-blending for a bonus). Also, I guess since so many people remark about me decorating my card backs and/or insides, that's a definite fave of mine, to cover every surface of the card when I can. Is that a style? I think so. :-)

  4. I got such a kick out of this card, and your explanation. Even giggled out loud when I read your paper was old. I don't tend to hold on old 12 x 12 papers but I do have 2007 BasicGrey 6 x 6 when it was all the rage. You couldn't have had a better background paper.

Your lawyer friend is going to love this card. How could your lawyer friend not!
