Guest-Designing for Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge #489

Happy Hump Day! I hope you are all well, safe and warm! Yesterday in the States it was Groundhog Day and...
A page from my art journal
My art journal page from 2009

... there was sunshine and shadows even in the snow, so the verdict was 6 more weeks of winter. Meanwhile, my neighbor's Gardenia bush has blooms so that means a hot summer coming. Gotta love these "wives tales", huh? By the way, I read that Pennsylvania groundhog Phil is only correct 39% of the time, so there's that.

Moving right along, back in December my pirate card was a winner over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge #485, and I was asked to guest-design for Challenge #489. So that's what I'm doing today!

I was given this sweet Digi Doodle Studios digital image to work with, which can be purchased HERE.

And here's what I created with it, an anniversary card for our daughter and her husband, who celebrated their first year as husband and wife on Feb. 1st.

Congrats to the happy couple, who have survived a year of lockdown together with flying colors! They celebrated with a ski trip to Winter Park, CO.

I chose this slimline Split Coast Stampers sketch SC715 as my layout. I found some envelopes in my stash that were dark red and matched the Creative Imagination Marah Johnson patterned card stock mats I used as my paper, so I used one for this card. But the envie dimensions were a bit slimmer than a regular #10 envie, so this card was cut to fit. After printing the digi, I cut it out of white card using my new Tutti Designs stitched slimline die. I colored the entire scene with my Promarkers and then added more die cuts: Quickutz music notes, Avery Elle hearts, My Favorite Things clouds and Impression Obsession Happy Anniversary sentiment. All cut using the Marah Johnson card stock but the clouds which were cut from white card. The bottom section is white card on which I've hand-stamped a very old Technique Tuesday Shakespearean phrase "If music be the food of love, play on". The stamp was so old that it had sugared and tore in half as I was pulling it gingerly off of the block. So you are seeing it's last performance. :-( I will have to say, several of my TT clear stamps bought a decade ago have not lasted, and I had to quit rewarding them for that with purchases. :-) I have to hope they improved their formula. Oh, there is also a strip of flowered washi tape between and underneath the two top sections. If you click on a photo, you can see it.

For the inside left, I hand-stamped a lovely IO phrase referencing the front Shakespeare one. On the right, I've matted more of the Marah Johnson and on top a smaller Tutti stitched slimline die cut on which I've hand-stamped a mash up of sentiments from Avery Elle, Woodware and Stamplorations.

For the back, a mat of the Marah Johnson card stock (love the musical bars behind the diamonds) and a scrap bordered with more of the washi tape and on top a TT siggie stamp (which was my last Technique Tuesday purchase and has held up fine, so I guess they did correct their bad batches).

And a final view. Thanks for visiting and have a great rest of the week! XOX

MY CHALLENGE PLAYLIST:
7.   I Love Promarkers #428: AG -- #1/3 I coloured the entire front panel with Promarkers
8.   Passion for Markers Week 577: Dies or Punches -- I've colored the entire front panel with Promarkers and I've used dies for the clouds, musical notes, hearts, anniversary sentiment and the stitched focal panel!
9.   Country View Feb. Challenge: First Signs of Spring -- Happy coincidence that our daughter's Feb. 1, 2020 outdoor wedding was a gorgeous, sunny, spring like day, replicated a bit here.
13.  Paper Funday #26: AG + Opt. LOVE -- #1/4  Option played!
14.  MAWTT #127: Valentines/LOVE -- #1/3  LOVE

  5. What a great anniversary card. I'm sure they will love it. They are a beautiful couple and I love her dress! I used to hand make wedding dresses many, many years ago. I made mine, but by the time my daughters were old enough I no longer had it in me. Too much work. Strange but, someone contacted me on Facebook Messenger this week and said "You made my wedding dress." I had forgotten all about her. It was at least forty years ago.

  7. Happy Anniversary to your daughter and SIL. Their photo is very creative. Gorgeous dress!

Fantastic card. The image you received for your Guest Spot (congratulations!) is so darling, and certainly is perfect for an anniversary.

I can't believe that TT stamps went "bad." So far, so good with what I have in the clear line, but I did donate TT stamps along with many more because of my two moves. Of course, now I'm sorry :(

As always, I love how you complete the insides of your cards and the back side. You reall pour a lot of time into each card.

  9. Happy 1st anniversary to the happy couple <3

What a first year of marriage they have had. If they can handle that I am sure they can handle anything. They were lucky that they got married before all this craziness happened.

I love the sentiments inside, absolutely perfect for an anniversary card. Congratulations on your guest DT gig, well deserved :)

Thanks for letting me know about the sign up by email not working. It was nothing I had done as there were no settings to change. I have deleted the widget and added it again and signed up to myself and that seems to have worked okay.
