May 18th Weekly Post

 Happy Sunday, everyone.
I hope your week and weekend has gone well.
My dad's 98th birthday is today - Happy Birthday in Heaven, Dad!
We had a warm week overall, just enough to zap your energy.
Our air cooler we use on the back porch finally died and we ordered a nicer one, counting our blessings that it happened before Summer's heat began in earnest. Got it the next day and it works great.
Then, REAL disaster struck: our 25-year-old KitchenAid dishwasher died too.
I practically forced Honey to go pick out a new one right then, which he did, bless him.
He chose another KitchenAid with my blessing, but Home Depot cannot install it until Saturday the 24th.
I had a full load inside ready to wash, too.
So, I had to -- GASP! --- wash them by hand!
This should be fun trying to use paper plates, utensils and cups for a week, lol.
I grew up with a dishwasher, have always had one all my life, so I'm a bit unsettled.
I know I'll survive (just not that happily haha).
Okay, moving on...
Rein is our hostess for this week's Fantasy House theme at Sunday Postcard Art.
This wasn't even a question for me. I've always loved houses like this one, which is from Digital Clipart HQ on Etsy. The big stone steps and wraparound front porch, with a second story balcony too!
Swoon!
Of course, I'd want mine to be a faux replica new build, lol.
We saw one a bit similar in Taylor, Texas when we were thinking about moving close to Austin.
It was built in the 1920s and had been remodeled somewhat but needed a lot more work.
I created the title in PSE and the background is a digital freebie I found in my computer files from Lozzy @ Nin's Papercrafting.
*******************
Here's a birthday card I made using a TCW 'splats' stencil and Distress inks on the white card stock background.
SU pink card stock base and die cut with sentiment cut from black card.
And the sketch I used.
*******************
This card has multiple die cuts (Spellbinders, My Favorite Things, HunkyDory) and a Beccy's digital cookie stack stamp that I colored with Promarkers. The designer paper is by Marah Johnson and I believe the pink card stock is Bazzill (but it also might be Chatterbox).
And the sketch I used.
********************
And finally, we have a few strawberries!
Here is Honey's really raised bed he built with scrap lumber from the garage.
He has parsley, basil, oregano and the strawberries growing in it.
He also just started some pepper and tomato plants in his round tubs.
You can see a bit of our new backyard fence in the photo.
And the buttercups you see along the fence line are all we got this Spring.
But the Lantana is going crazy already!
*******************
That's all from me today.
Thanks for the visit and I hope we all have a great week ahead.

well I think your fantasy house is perfect! very classic, very pretty, and given the size of it, I sincerely hope you'll have a housekeeper! Lol, especially since you don't even want to handwash your dishes! well done! And happy heavenly birthday to your dear dad. xxoo

Now that is a cool fantasy house. I wouldn't mind something like that either. I'm one of these folks that likes old style houses or really really modern ones. Nothing in between. Nice splatters too. They have great definition and super color too. And that's a cute birthday card also. I really enjoyed seeing your strawberries and your btis of garden too. The hubby is a talented guy to build that raised bed. And your Lantana is gorgeous. It fun to see what likes to grow in our different areas. I hope you have a super week ahead. hugs-Erika

I'm with you, for sure - I love Victorians! My parents both grew up in San Francisco, and I grew up close by, so the Painted Ladies have always been a favorite fantasy house for me, too. Your artwork's Victorian is just perfect!

Another great collection this week, Aimeslee, despite your appliance troubles. I. very taken with the fantasy house - I would love to visit there for holiday. Good luck with the dishwasher fitting tomorrow.

Love all of your projects Aimes, but the Victorian house is my fav!! I love the old style houses with porches and wood floors. Hope you have a pain free week my friend.

It sometimes feels like random expenses never visit alone, doesn't it? Hope your dishwasher was installed okay. I like that raised garden bed of yours. We've been getting a lot of rain here lately, and our garden looks like a mud pond and feels like quicksand, lol... I'll bet the raised beds don't do that. Lovely batch of cards as always--you've used pretty colors everywhere, and that house does look grand! Hope you have a wonderful week. Anita xx

What a super assortment of cards Aimes. really great ideas, love the house. As for the dishwasher, I hope you're managing, hahaha. Things always come together, don't they? Love the raised bed for your strawberries and the beautiful Lantana. x
